About This Game

What is RuneClick?

RuneClick is an RPG that lives on your desktop and levels up while you use your computer. A pixel art adventurer sits on top of your taskbar and reacts to your real keyboard, mouse and controller. Type an email, he chops a tree. Click through a spreadsheet, he mines ore. Walk away and he waits for you. No autoplay, no offline gains. Every level is earned, one keystroke at a time.

The Grind is Real

23 skills, and every one feeds another. Woodcutting fuels Firemaking, Fletching and Construction. Mining supplies the forge. Fishing and Farming stock the kitchen, Herblore turns herbs into potions, and Runecraft makes the runes you cast. Hunt creatures for hides and feathers, train with a coach, pick pockets, build furniture and bury bones at your own altar. Level cap is 99 per skill, and XP keeps counting after that.

Fight Back

Pick a style and go. Melee, with four stances that shape which stats you train. Ranged, with bows and crossbows firing arrows and bolts you fletched yourself. Magic, with 24 spells powered by runes you crafted. The combat triangle matters, so bring the right style to the right fight.

46 enemies, from chickens to dragons to the Abyssal Lord himself. Bosses change phases and weaknesses mid-fight. Slayer masters hand out tasks and unlock monsters that need the right gear to beat. The best loot waits at the top: the full Dragon armor set, the materials for Elder weapons, and six tiny boss pets.

Gear Up

Smith armor across six metal tiers from Bronze to Rune, then chase Black, Granite and Dragon from the monsters that carry them. Craft ten sets of leather and hide for Ranged, with a buckler in the off hand. Stitch robes for Magic. Forge tools that gather faster, cut gems into jewelry with passive bonuses, and cook food and brew potions that give you an edge. Four gear presets swap you between skilling, melee, ranged and magic in one click.

New in 3.3: Dragons, Superiors and Journals

Blue, Red and Black Dragons join the Green Dragon, and every dragon now breathes fire. An Anti-dragon Shield or an antifire potion guards you against the breath. Then take on the King Black Dragon. Slayer gets four new beasts, and twelve Slayer monsters have a rare superior version that can drop an Imbued Heart or a battlestaff. Six journals with four tiers each pay out in antique lamps and lasting perks. Magic fills in six combat spells from level 47 to 70. Spellcraft, which enchants your jewelry and bolts and turns spare loot into gold, learns four astral spells. And robes and hides now add accuracy.

Every Level Counts

Hit 99 and the fireworks go off. A collection log tracks 500+ items to find, 95 achievements mark the milestones, and 26 Steam leaderboards show how you stack up against everyone else putting in the hours.

It Lives on Your Desktop

RuneClick isn't a window you switch to. It's a transparent overlay that sits on top of your taskbar while you work, browse or play other games. Click through it, drag it anywhere, scale it from 50% to 150%. It launches with Windows, saves automatically and never steals focus. It's a companion, not a distraction.

Mod Everything

Add new skills, items, and recipes with simple JSON files. Want full control? Write GDScript mods with access to every system in the game. Share your creations on Steam Workshop. A complete template mod with an example skill is included to get you started.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

RuneClick is made by one person with a lot of help from AI tools. I design the game, make every balance and content call, and review everything before it ships, but AI does a large share of the making.

Code: the game's code is written with an AI coding assistant, working from my designs, and I test it in the game.

Art: most of the pixel art (character poses, gear, enemies, scene props) starts from AI pixel art tools. It is then cut up, recoloured, animated and fixed pixel by pixel to match the game's style, partly by me and partly with AI help. Some item icons were made with AI image tools.

Text and translations: the in-game text is written with AI help and edited by me. The eight non-English translations of the game and this store page are AI translations.

Store and trailers: the trailer music was composed with an AI music tool, the desktop wallpaper behind the store screenshots is AI-generated, and some store art was made with AI image tools. All gameplay in the trailers and screenshots is captured from the real game.

Nothing in the game uses AI while you play. It does not generate art, text or anything else at runtime.
