Why Early Access?

“Chasing Whiskers is a game built around feel of a grandma who absolutely refuses to give up. Getting that just right takes player feedback we can't manufacture on our own.

We're entering Early Access because we want real players playing the game before we lock it down. Your sessions, your frustrations, your "wait, why can't I do that?" moments are exactly what will shape the game into its best version. We're a small, passionate team, and Early Access lets us build alongside our community rather than in isolation.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Not long! We're aiming to release the full version by June 2026, in line with the end of our academic year. Early Access is a short window, a few months at most, giving us time to gather player feedback and act on it before we wrap up the project. We'll keep you posted as we get closer to launch.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full release will bring a fully polished level with a distinct identity and environmental storytelling throughout. You'll also meet an extended cast of wacky elemental cats, each with unique abilities and personalities that'll keep you on your toes. Tying it all together is a full narrative and quest system a complete story with clear goals and a satisfying ending, all improved through the player feedback we gather during Early Acces!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core catching loop is in, cats with different abilities are roaming around, and a rudimentary quest system is there to give you direction. The level is partially complete and you may run into some bugs, we're actively ironing those out before full release.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Chasing Whiskers is completely free, and that's never going to change! The game is a student project created by 3rd-year Creative Media and Game Technologies students at Breda University of Applied Sciences as part of our coursework. No price tag now, no price tag at full launch. Just download it and play.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We'll be sharing development updates: what we're working on, what changed based on feedback, and what's coming next! If something in the game isn't working, we want to hear about it. If a cat is weirdly difficult to catch (or suspiciously easy), tell us. If Grandma's movement feels off, that's exactly the kind of thing we need to know.
