Bauble

A single-player roguelite about a planet of newly-sentient creatures. You play as small denizens with unique perspectives, trying to figure out what's happening to their planet (complicated by the fact they just became aware of it at all). In challenge mode, compete for score on a local leaderboard.

Pourquoi choisir l'accès anticipé ?

« Bauble is playable right now, but we want to develop the rest of it alongside players. Early Access gives us a feedback loop to expand on what's landing, clarify what's confusing, and build out what players want more of. We're a small studio and this is our first commercial release. Getting it in front of players before we lock things in has been the right strategy for us so far. »

« We're planning to be in Early Access for approximately 6 months, with a full 1.0 release targeting the end of 2026. That said, we'd rather take the time to get it right than hit a date on the calendar. »

« The Early Access version has 2 characters and 1 environment to investigate. In the full version, we plan to add a third player character, a second environment, and a final act to the story, in addition to expanding all existing content with new options. »

« The current build includes 2 fully playable characters, 7 story levels, and an infinite mode. You can run through the full story in 1-3 hours, depending on your level of skill. Combat, the upgrade system, and the core run loop are all functional and representative of the final game's feel. »

« We plan to offer a lower price during Early Access as a thank-you to players who come in early and help shape the game. We expect to raise the price when we release the complete, polished 1.0. »

Overview

Bauble is a real-time adventure strategy game about creatures on a planet where sentience is just emerging. You play as several small denizens with unique perspectives, learning for themselves what's friend and foe. Unbeknownst to them, this volatile planet teeming with life has attracted the attention of something far, far older.

Gameplay

You power up your character as you play (through upgrades called Ideas), fight enemies at a pace that rewards positioning over reflexes, and unlock different paths through the world depending on the choices you make.

Combat is real-time but unhurried and enemies have readable behaviors. As you learn how creatures act, your in-game encyclopedia fills in, and a good plan of attack goes a long way.

Between fights, you choose Ideas that occur to your critter. These aren't just stat boosts; they represent creatures gaining awareness of themselves and each other. The Ideas you take change how your character plays and which parts of the world open up to you. Two runs won't feel the same, and the differences go deeper than combat.

Core Features

Play through a campaign (~10 hours of gameplay) that has you investigate a mysterious plague on your planet from the perspective of diverse, intrepid creatures.
Discover new areas, try different builds, and break the game in highly replayable roguelike mode. The roguelike mode features randomized encounters, rewards, a scoring system, and your own local scoreboard.
Grow your character through three core traits: Power, Wisdom, and Heart. Each affects your run in unique ways.
Play as three creatures at different stages in their evolution.

Customize your kit before each run, and unlock new moves that compliment different playstyles.
Discover original, otherworldly environments and creatures; learn more over runs and slowly fill an in-game encyclopedia of your finds.
Listen to a full, original soundtrack, featuring hits like "Muckbubble" and "Glomfly." It will be made available separately on release.

Modes

In story mode, investigate the sudden collapse of your ecosystem. Play as a trio of small creatures over several chapters and find out who or what is responsible. Each chapter is a puzzle to solve, and reveals more of a complex story from your unique and yet limited perspective.

In challenge mode, take what you've learned and apply it to a longer run, earning a score for your build and your performance through the level. Develop strategies for your favorite critters, compete with friends, and beat your personal bests.
