What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Last Courier is a project that prioritizes atmospheric depth and player immersion. As a solo developer, I believe that the best way to refine the courier mechanics, the narrative pacing, and the world-building is by involving the community. Early Access allows me to build this somber journey alongside the players, ensuring the final product resonates with those who value isolation and environmental storytelling.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game is planned to remain in Early Access for approximately 6 to 12 months. This timeframe will allow me to integrate new urban sectors, expand the narrative threads, and polish the survival systems based on community feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version aims to provide a much more expansive and detailed experience. Planned additions include:

Expanded Map: New dangerous sectors of the city to explore and navigate.

Deepened Narrative: More encrypted files, voice logs, and multiple potential story endings.

Safe House Evolution: Additional customization for your hideout and more complex survival maintenance systems.

Enhanced AI: More diverse zombie behaviors and environmental hazards.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version features the core gameplay loop: a fully functional bunker (Safe House), the computer-based terminal interface for mission management, and the initial chapters of the main story. Players can undertake courier missions, manage their resources, and experience the foundational atmosphere of the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to slightly increase the price as new content and major features are added. Early Access supporters will benefit from a lower price point as a thank you for their early belief in the project and their help in shaping its development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback is the heartbeat of this project. I will be actively monitoring the Steam Discussion boards and Discord to gather suggestions, bug reports, and general impressions. The community’s experience on the delivery routes will directly influence the game's difficulty balance, atmosphere, and feature priorities.”

About This Game

Last Courier is a first-person atmospheric survival simulation that blends high-stakes delivery mechanics with stealth-based horror. You play as a father left behind in a decaying metropolis, forced to navigate dangerous urban environments to earn his way back to his family.

CORE GAMEPLAY LOOP: Every day begins in your Safe House, where you interact with an aging Terminal System. You must select delivery contracts, plan your route through a zombie-infested city, and return safely to earn "Evacuation Credits." Your ultimate goal is to accumulate enough credits to buy a ticket for the final transport ship.

KEY FEATURES & MECHANICS:

  • Terminal Simulation: Access a functional in-game computer to accept missions, monitor your evacuation progress, and decrypt lore-heavy files that reveal the city's dark secrets.

  • Audio-Based Stealth: The "Silent Ones" (the undead) are completely blind but react to the slightest noise. You must manage your movement speed and avoid environmental noise traps like broken glass, metal debris, and car alarms.

  • Stamina & Weight Physics: Every package has physical weight. Carrying heavier cargo drains your stamina faster, slows your movement, and increases the noise you generate, forcing a tactical trade-off between reward and risk.

  • Safe House Maintenance: Between runs, you must manage your sanctuary. Ensure your radio signal remains active to receive new missions and keep your limited resources in check.

  • Non-Linear Exploration: The city is a labyrinth. Use your map to find shortcuts, bypass "High-Threat Zones," and discover hidden caches of supplies to aid your survival.

  • Environmental Storytelling: Experience a narrative told through the world. Collect audio logs, read abandoned letters, and witness the frozen moments of the collapse.
