About This Game

A lone probe crashes on a desert planet in search of fresh resources to extract. What Newman, the on-board AI, finds however, is a landscape so desolate and over-exploited that the only logical course of action is to get off the accursed surface as soon as possible. To aid in this task, Newman deploys the crowning achievement of Newman Networks technology:

Enter the Newbot.

Comprised of 5 fully replaceable parts, as well as a unique eerily human sense of ingenuity, the Newbot makes for the ultimate tool in autonomous resource extraction in any scenario.

FULLY REPLACEABLE PARTS:

  • Head - With its prized universal connector, the Newbot head can be used to control all manner of systems and doohickeys, all the while preserving the unit's communicative abilities.

  • Arms - In addition to the standard-issue grabber arms, Newbots are compatible with a wide range of interaction appendages. Telescope hands, pressurized hydraulics, communication enhancers, artificial suns; the list goes on!

  • Legs - The Newbot's bipedal design allows for easy traversal of humanoid environments, but don't let that limit the imagination! Rocket propellants, gravity-modulation, damping fields... Don't let the sky limit your locomotion!

PEC-8371: DESOLATE OR DESPERATE?

Explore PEC-8371 (Planetary Exploitation Candidate); a vast, hauntingly desolate planet marred by untold eons of strife, exploitation, and extinction. Why are there roads to nowhere? Just how far away are those hulking shapes silhouetting the horizon? Could it be that the numerous ruins, rusty and ravaged as they are, form a tapestry of stories so ancient even the great data records of Newman Networks are of no use?

  • Fully explorable, hand-crafted map.

  • Carefully shaped to provide in-world landmarks and tools that make for exploration rooted in knowledge and real engagement with the world you find yourselves in.

  • Designed with the journey in mind, traversal is half the adventure!

BUILT FOR COOPERATION - THE FIRST FELLOWSHIP GAME

Newman aims to deliver a brand new concept: the Fellowship Game; an experience that is built from the ground-up to foment a collective feeling of overcoming adversity through cooperative adventure.

  • Proximity Voice Chat - Nothing beats the locked-in feeling of hearing your friends plan out your next scrap run behind you as you're driving, or the cold terror of picking up their screams for help echoing down a dark hallway.

  • Immersion-First - Newman is an experience intentionally built to minimize any traditional feelings of "gamey-ness". UI is minimal, hazards are rooted in systemic interactions, and progression is primarily expressed through accumulated knowledge of the world you inhabit.

  • Rewarding Curiosity - A keen eye and sharp sense of intuition is more important than even the most prized gravity-modulating leg. Finding clever ways to use the tools available to tackle threats and solve puzzles is something that is valued exceptionally highly, and is of course rewarded accordingly.
