About This Game

Lafandel is a visual novel dating sim. This game is set to have a branching narrative, with each of the six girls getting their own route. My main influences when writing this were games such as 'Katawa Shoujo', 'Snoot Game', 'I Wani Hug That Gator', etc.. And in a similar fashion to those games, the vast majority of the time and budget is going into the writing and art.

When the project launches, a playable free demo is planned that will allow the player to play the first bit of the game that will give you a scene with each girl to see who catches your interest most.

So, with expectations set let's dive into a quick overview.

LaFandel, a sleepy halfling village surrounded by a powerful enchantment to keep it hidden from the dangerous outside world.

You, taking the role the only human in town, Hal. Have come here to hide from the war that now ravages your hometown. But its not a free meal ticket, you must prove yourself useful to the town for them to shelter you. As you do this, you will meet a cast of characters, including six intended love interests among other colorful personalities.

Now, lets take a look at what you are really here for. Let's start with the three halfling girls:

Lilly, the childhood friend. You never could have gotten into town without her guidance and vouching for you. She is a bit clumsy, can be easily flustered, but always has good intentions. Along with her grandparents, she is a tailor by trade.

Next up is Yuuko, the town's alchemist and expert herbologist. She is the very shy, timid type. It will take time and patience to get her out of her shell, but once she does, you will find her quite the conversationalist.

Third is Grace. The most experienced and wise of the cast of ladies. A woman who knows what she wants, and doesn't beat around the bush. She has a bit of a 'reputation' around town. Her and Lilly have some kind of history judging by the way they glare at each other.  She runs the general store and knows a bit about everyone.

Next we get into the non-halfling girls. All these girls don't originate from LaFandel, but through circumstance or choice they ended up here, at least until its safe to travel back home:

Clover. A tiny pixie with a big attitude. She is a spitfire that doesn't let her size keep her from putting anyone in their place. She helps enrich the soil with her pixie dust to accelerate plant growth, enabling the crops to sustain the town with such little farmable land.

Next, one of the stranded goblins. Fenlie. A very bubbly, eternally happy girl who has a reputation of being a bit of a ditz and airhead. She helps maintain the enchantment that protects the town, using her innate magical ability. Much to the chagrin of the old halfling wizards who have to put up with her.

Finally. Greta. A dwarf. Stereotypically, the town's blacksmith. She is a tomboy at heart, overly aggressive, and competitive. With a strong sense of duty and honor. You will have a friend in her if you can keep up.

With that rundown of the main cast, I'm sure you are expecting lots of great art. And You will not be disappointed. With the demo release of the game, I am expecting to have at least 1 high-quality CG for each girl,

As a final note on experience, I have a rough visual novel available for download now on steam for free call "Culling of Normality". It was made as a solo project for a game jam in about 2 months. As such I used AI art for that game, but I want to stress that this project, LaFandel, will have none. I recommend looking at that first, and if the plot interests you in any way, to bookmark this project for when the demo is completed and ready to play, also free of course.
