About This Game

Hanafuda meets roguelike deckbuilding!

A roguelike deckbuilder built on traditional Koi-Koi rules.

Never played hanafuda? Don't worry.

The rules take minutes to learn. Putting it down is the hard part.

Simple rules

Play a card from your hand and take the matching month from the table. That's all there is to it.

High risk, high reward

Complete a yaku and you get a choice — stop, or call "Koi-Koi"!

Every Koi-Koi you call raises the stakes, and completing another yaku multiplies your score.

But if your hand runs out before you complete one, everything you staked that month is gone.

Yaku only hanafuda has

Brights — only five in the whole 48-card deck. Three of them turns a round around.

Akatan · Aotan — three red ribbons, three blue ribbons.

Inoshikacho — the boar, the deer, and the butterfly. Collect the animal yaku.

Hanami · Tsukimi — the sake cup meeting the cherry blossom, or the full moon.

Animals · Ribbons · Junk — complete them by count alone. Every extra card raises the score.

Pay the rent with hanafuda

Rent comes due every month. You pay it with the points you scored that month.

Whatever you can't cover carries over, and missing two months in a row means eviction.

One miss is a grace period — pay it back next month and you live.

Rent climbs as the year goes on. Survive the final collection in the twelfth month and you win.

Collect cards and relics to build a winning deck

Shop — spend gold on relics, open hanafuda packs, and remove the cards you don't want from your deck.

Relics — strengthen a suit, multiply your score, or rewrite the rules outright.

Unlock yaku — Godori, Chodan, and four month sets (Iris · Maple · Rain · Paulownia). Scoring hands that aren't in the base rules.

Level up yaku — raise the score of the hand you're building toward.

Features

20+ relics, 6 unlockable yaku, a shop that's different every run

A rent bill every month — one Koi-Koi can decide whether you survive it

Twelve months, about 30 minutes a run — made for deckbuilding roguelike fans
