„I believe in involving the community during the development phase of this very niche game. I don't believe there is any other game or computer-based simulation quite like it at the moment. So, whilst it may only attract a niche audience, I believe that audience is quite passionate. I welcome all feedback during the Early Access phase so that I can deliver an authentic experience in this very unique genre. “

„I am currently planning for the Early Access phase to last anywhere between 6-12 months. This may change (either reduce or increase) if priorities/scoping for the project changes during development.“

Jak se bude plná verze lišit od předběžného přístupu?

„The full version will add additional components and mechanics to the game world, as well as having more diverse 'contracts' for the player to complete.

During the development process, I am planning on adding an additional boiler, a steam jet condenser, and many upgrade options for the pumping station itself.

Not to mention, other aspects of the game will be further refined and polished during Early Access, and included in the full version release.“

V jaké fázi vývoje se hra nachází?

„The Early Access build will provide a solid foundation for the player to interact with the main steam engine and pumping station to complete their shifts.

They will have full control over preparing, running and maintaining the main steam engine, as well as the associated pumping systems. They will be able to receive and fulfill contract offers, order supplies, perform record-keeping and generally keep the pumping station running (or not). The player will also have access to a DC generator with auxiliary diesel engine so they can run their pumping station isolated from the power grid

While the core experience is in place, players should expect to encounter bugs and optimization issues during Early Access.“

Změní se cena hry po skončení předběžného přístupu?

„The price of the game will be lower during the Early Access phase. I believe in rewarding early players of the game by making it more accessible and it is hoped that with ongoing community feedback during the Early Access phase, Empire Water Works will be developed to be the best it can be as we approach v1.0 release.“

„Most of the community interaction I plan to have will be via the Steam discussion boards and through my social media channels such as my YouTube channel and Facebook page.“

  • Operate and maintain a massive double-expansion steam engine from the bygone era, pumping water to the town's residential, municipal and industrial water reservoirs, to maintain sufficient water pressure

  • Perform realistic 'cold and dark' startup procedures such as warming cylinder jackets and filling oil lubricators to ensure minimal wear on cylinder liners, main bearings and other components

  • Interact with vintage machinery like boilers, generators, water pumps and bilge pumps

  • Fine-tune your steam engine's operation, by adjusting the steam regulator, valve gears and boiler water feed

  • Operate advanced steam equipment such as a jet condenser

  • Perform maintenance on equipment and order supplies such as coal and steam oil

  • Complete event-based 'contract' challenges to supply reservoirs with a given amount of water and receive funding and reputation bonuses in return

  • Experience realistic audio recorded from a real vintage steam engine

  • Deal with critical events such as massive steam leaks, flooding and machinery damage, including cylinder wear and boiler explosions

  • Keep records about the running of the pumping station in your ledger - but be careful to ensure the records are accurate!
