My Summer Love: Memories is a romantic visual novel that captures the aesthetics and nostalgia of 90s Full-Motion Video (FMV) games. But this is much more than a traditional dating simulator: here, you have total control over what you say.

Independent Engineering: Our Own Custom Engine

To make a game with these characteristics possible, commercial tools on the market simply fell short. We needed absolute memory control and parallel processing (multithreading) capabilities to load videos in real-time and generate text dynamically. For this reason, at Soul Shell, we developed our own engine from scratch using C++ and the following open-source libraries:

  • SFML for multimedia management.

  • LlamaCpp for the efficient execution of local Large Language Models (LLMs).

  • DearImgui for a clean, optimized development interface.
