About This Game

The Halcyon Nuclear Power Plant has been running on borrowed time for thirty years. The cooling system is held together with epoxy. The compressors are older than your manager. The radiation scrubbers were last serviced under a previous administration.

You're the technician on shift when it all stops working at once.

Meltdown is a chaotic 1-4 player co-op game about stopping an impending nuclear disaster. You have 10 minutes. Overcome the chaos with friends. Time is ticking.

The Halcyon Nuclear Power Plant operates as an integrated system. Cooling regulates reactor temperature. Compressors maintain pressure across the facility. Radiation scrubbers prevent atmospheric contamination. The electrical grid powers all of it.

When one system fails, the next one follows. A coolant leak raises reactor temperature. Rising temperature damages adjacent electrical components. Damaged components stop powering safety doors. Open doors allow radiation to spread.

Halcyon Energy was advised that redundancy systems would mitigate cascade risk. Halcyon Energy declined to fund the redundancy systems.

Radiation exposure, structural collapse, fire, electrical shock, and high-pressure steam are recognized hazards at Halcyon Nuclear Power Plant. Halcyon Energy classifies these as standard occupational risks.

When a Technician is rendered unconscious by one of the above, they are not deceased. They are pending recovery. A teammate may administer first aid to restore them to active duty.

Halcyon Energy reminds Technicians that uninterrupted shift completion is a key performance indicator. Please prioritize accordingly.

A single Technician can complete a shift at Halcyon Nuclear Power Plant. Two to four Technicians can complete the shift considerably better.

One person cannot reset a tripped breaker, contain a coolant leak, restore radiation scrubbers, and revive an unconscious crew member at the same time. The cascade does not pause for sequencing. Every system requires attention. Every minute spent on one fault is a minute the others are getting worse.

Crews that communicate survive. Crews that don't will get to watch a cool reactor explosion and try again.

The following parameters are confirmed for all shifts at Halcyon Nuclear Power Plant:

 Shift duration: 10 minutes

Crew size: 1 to 4 Technicians

Reactor systems: Cooling, air, electrical, control, monitoring

 Plant systems: Lighting, door control

Fault frequency: Likely to increases throughout shift duration

 Fault variety: Substantial

Reactor failure: Terminal for the reactor and reportedly unpleasant for the crew

The Plant doesn't care that you just fixed three things in a row. It doesn't care that your teammate is down and the only path to them is flooded with radiation. It doesn't care that your manager assured you the new compressors were fine.

It's going to keep breaking. You're going to keep it running.

10 minutes. That's all you have to survive.

Halcyon Energy thanks you for your service
