What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The Aurora Chronicles is an episodic visual novel with plans for 24 episodes across 4 acts. Early Access allows me to release completed episodes progressively while gathering player feedback on story pacing, character development, and gameplay features. As a solo developer, this approach lets me refine later episodes based on community response to earlier ones, aiming to create a better overall experience. I want players who are excited about episodic sci-fi storytelling to experience the series as it unfolds and provide feedback on pacing, presentation, and quality-of-life features.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I anticipate Early Access lasting approximately 2-3 years as I release episodes progressively. Each act contains 6 episodes, and I plan to release new episodes regularly throughout the Early Access period as I work toward completing all 24 episodes.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access begins with the first episodes of the story. I plan to expand the game to include all 24 episodes across 4 complete story acts, along with additional polish based on player feedback and quality-of-life improvements suggested by the community. I also aim to add features like enhanced cross-platform save functionality and localization as development continues.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The initial Early Access release includes the first two fully playable episodes with complete voice acting, original music, and all artwork. Core gameplay systems including the visual novel interface, save/load functionality, and cloud saves are fully implemented. Players can experience approximately 2-3 hours of story content.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to gradually raise the price as I add new content. My intention is for players who purchase early to receive all future episodes at no additional cost. I expect to increase the price after each act (6 episodes) is completed, rewarding early supporters with the best value.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan to maintain active communication through social media and community spaces, sharing development progress and updates regularly. Players can report issues, suggest quality-of-life improvements, and provide feedback on pacing and presentation. While the story is fully outlined, community input helps me refine the experience—things like interface preferences, accessibility options, and technical polish.”

About This Game

Can optimism survive truth?

You are the Commander of the FRV Aurora, a Frontier Response Vessel dispatched to investigate incidents on humanity's expanding edge. The United Earth Alliance has built a utopia—150 years of peace, cooperation, and exploration. But something is wrong on the frontier. And the more you investigate, the less certain anything becomes.

Your Crew. Your Choices.

Four specialists. Four perspectives. Every decision shapes your relationships with Kira, Marcus, Amara, and Jax—and their trust will determine what they share, what they hide, and who stands with you when it matters most.

X-Files Meets Star Trek

Investigate impossible phenomena in humanity's optimistic future. Each case challenges what the crew believes is possible—and what's supposed to exist at all.

Investigate the Impossible

Strange signals. Vanished crews. Phenomena that shouldn't exist. Every investigation unfolds through dialogue, evidence, and the perspectives of your four specialists.

Episodic Mystery

Each episode delivers a complete investigation—anomalies, lost stations, unexplained phenomena—while building toward something larger. Some cases stand alone. Others connect to a pattern you'll spend the season unraveling. The frontier holds answers. And questions that shouldn't be asked.

Multiple Endings

Your philosophy matters. The ending you reach reflects not just your choices, but your worldview.

Solo Dev, Big Vision

24 episodes. Fully voiced. Original soundtrack. Built by one person who wanted to play this game and couldn't find it.

Early Access

Early Access launches with Episodes 1-2. New episodes release regularly until Season 1 (24 episodes across 4 acts) is complete.
