Why Early Access?

“We are launching in Early Access so that players can help us identify bugs, balance issues, performance problems, and areas where the gameplay experience can be improved. Community feedback will play an important role in shaping the game's development, helping us refine mechanics, add quality-of-life features, and prioritize future content updates.

The current Early Access version contains the core gameplay systems and tutorial is fully playable, but additional content, features, polish, and optimizations are still in development. We encourage players to share their experiences and suggestions in our Discord server so we can improve the game and deliver the best possible final release.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version of The Urbexan Files to expand upon the foundation available during Early Access through additional content, gameplay systems, and community-driven improvements.

Our current focus is establishing the core experience of what we already have, like exploring abandoned locations, collecting valuable items, surviving supernatural threats, and escaping with your team. During Early Access, you will only be able to access the tutorial section. ”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of our game will feature a simple quick tutorial and introduction to the atmosphere of our game. Please refer to "Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?" for details.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we accommodate and improve the quality of the game.”

“We want to listen to the community 24/7. Early Access players and those who are interested are always invited to the official "The Urbexan Files" Discord server linked to the Steam Page below to send feedback and suggestions on how to improve the game. Welcome to the fold. You are a member of The Urbexans, an underground collective of thrill-seekers and scavengers obsessed with the places the world chose to forget. We don’t just explore abandoned ruins; we extract the impossible from them.

Why do we do it? For the fortune. For the adrenaline. For the thrill of knowing that humanity left behind secrets that were never meant to be found—and that we are the only ones brave (or foolish) enough to drag them into the light.

But be warned: The legends are true. These structures aren’t as abandoned as they look.

THE MISSION

Your objective is simple on paper, but fatal in practice:

  • Infiltrate: Enter sprawling, decaying man-made structures, forgotten warehouses, and unsettling liminal spaces.

  • Explore: Collect valuable information scattered, this place isn't just about fortune.

  • Extract: Scour the depths for valuable items you never never afford.

  • Survive: Once items are collected, the facility wakes up. Something is now hunting you.

  • Escape: Work with your team to solve environmental puzzles, activate long-dead generators, and find a way out before you become just another entry in our files.

FEATURES

  • UNPREDICTABLE HORROR: Face an advanced AI that doesn't just chase—it stalks, roams, and waits for the perfect moment to strike. It is intelligent, It uses the environment, flickering lights, and false audio cues to make you second-guess your own senses. 

  • THE SANITY THRESHOLD: Your mind is your weakest link. As you witness horrors, get chased, or find yourself isolated in the dark, your sanity will slip. The lower it drops, the more the reality of the facility shifts—hallucinations will take hold, and the monster will become faster, smarter, and more aggressive.

  • CO-OP OR SOLO: Whether you enter as a lone wolf or with a squad, teamwork is your greatest asset. Stick together to keep your sanity high, or split up to cover more ground—but don't complain if you disappear in the dark.

  • ATMOSPHERIC DREAD: Built in Unreal Engine 5, our environments utilize ultra-dynamic lighting, volumetric fog, and decaying architecture to create an experience that feels suffocatingly real.

The Urbexans seek riches, but the places we visit don't give them up easily. Expect to face the unknown—from the echoes of wendigos to nightmares that defy description.
