What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The Conglomerate is a unique blend of three distinct genres: a coding puzzle, an isometric office manager, and a factory automation sim. Because the gameplay shifts drastically between these eras, we need community feedback to ensure the progression feels natural and the economy remains balanced throughout the entire timeline. We also want to tune our procedural narrative system—which generates community reactions and social feed chatter—based on how real players interact with the world.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate remaining in Early Access for approximately 6 to 12 months. This timeline allows us to expand the content within the 'Studio' and 'Conglomerate' phases while refining the core loop based on player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to significantly expand the depth of the later game phases. Currently, the 'Studio' phase allows for office building and staff management; we plan to add more diverse furniture, deeper employee personality traits, and more complex map biomes. For the 'Conglomerate' phase, we intend to deepen the esports simulation mechanics and add more complex factory automation nodes (conveyors and processors). Additionally, we plan to refine the AI-driven narrative system to provide more varied and context-aware community interactions.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable from start to finish across all three eras.
- Phase 1 (The Garage): Features a complete coding pipeline puzzle loop, historical market simulation, and day/night cycle.
- Phase 2 (The Studio): Includes functional isometric office building, autonomous employee AI, and region exploration.
- Phase 3 (The Conglomerate): Features basic factory automation, stock market manipulation, and rival takeover mechanics.
The core simulation, save system, and procedural audio engine are fully functional. Players may encounter balancing issues regarding money and hype generation in the later stages.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“During our early access period, we're pricing this at full price. We intend to discount our pricing as often as we're allowed to for any early supporter looking to adopt our game. We're big fans of the genre we're building into, and we're more invested in feedback during early access rather than the funds we receive. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to actively monitor the Steam Community Forums and our Discord server. We are specifically looking for feedback on the economy balance (money, energy, and hype generation) and the difficulty curve of the coding puzzles. Since the game spans 40+ years of simulated history, player feedback is crucial to ensure the pacing feels rewarding rather than grinding.”

About This Game

Build the Game. Control the Market. Replace the Human.

The Conglomerate is is a journey through the history and monopolistic future of the gaming/corporate industry.

Start as a starving developer in a 1980s garage, developing games by hand to survive. Evolve into a corporate CEO managing a massive MMO studio. Finally, ascend to a ruthless industrialist, replacing human workers with AI and automation to achieve the Singularity.

Three eras. Three genres. One goal: Total Monopoly.

Note: This game is constantly evolving and becoming more refined with development work-in-progress. The description below reports on complete/active development progress.

Phase 1: The Garage (1980s)

Development Status: Complete (Refinements may come with updates)

Genre: Puzzle / Pipeline Defense

Survive the wild west of the 8-bit era. You aren't just filling progress bars; you are building the logic yourself.

  • Pipeline Coding: Connect Logic, Graphics, and Physics nodes on a 2D grid. Build efficient data pipelines while fighting off bugs and avoiding "spaghetti code."

  • The Flow State: Manage your physical needs. Drink coffee to boost coding speed, but beware the "jitters" that cause errors.

  • Dynamic History: Compete against real historical titles.

Phase 2: The Studio (1991–2010)

Development Status: Foundational (Needs refinement & balancing)

Genre: Management / City Builder

You've made your millions. Now, build your empire. Leave the garage behind for a sleek, isometric corporate office.

  • World Builder: Don't just make the game; design the map. Place quest hubs (towns), dungeons, and cities for your flagship MMORPG.

  • Server Management: Manage the physical infrastructure. Route cooling ducts and power cables to prevent your server racks from melting under player load.

  • The Banhammer: Police your community. Ban toxic players—but remember, today's banned troll might be tomorrow's rival CEO.

Phase 3: The Conglomerate (2011–Future)

Development Status: Work-In-Progress (Actively working to complete development of this phase)

Genre: Automation / Dystopian Strategy

Humans are inefficient. To dominate the global market, you must automate everything. The game shifts into a dark, neon-soaked logistics simulator.

  • The Human Pipeline: Build massive conveyor belt systems to route employees between dormitories and workstations. Optimize their output with chemical injections.

  • The Esports Rig: Own the league. Manufacture robotic players disguised as humans to crush the competition.

  • The Singularity: Research technologies to phase out human staff entirely. Achieve 100% market share and infinite efficiency.

Key Features

  • Visual Evolution: Watch the game's graphics evolve in real-time, from gritty 8-bit pixel art to clean corporate vector art, ending in a high-fidelity cyberpunk interface.

  • Diegetic UI: Read community feedback on sticky notes on your wall. Check your health in the reflection of your desk mirror.

  • AI-Driven Narrative: An internal logic engine generates dynamic community reactions, rival CEO threats, and social media storms based on your specific actions.

  • Procedural Audio: A reactive soundtrack that evolves with your company, shifting from chiptune waves to industrial techno as you grow.

Will you remain a creator, or will you become the machine?

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

We used AI to generate a dictionary and words database in-order to create a robust rule-based engine for light-weight chat simulation. We've also used AI as a second level review to discover memory leaks/exploits.
