What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Nearborn is being developed by a team of just two developers. We chose the Early Access model because we want to create a much larger, more atmospheric, and more immersive world than we can deliver at launch.

Our main goal is to transform the Abyss into a living surreal world filled with exploration, mysteries, and its own unique history. Throughout Early Access, we plan to significantly expand the game world by adding new points of interest, abandoned ships filled with supplies, unique dungeons, mysterious locations, and additional events, making every journey more varied and unpredictable.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to remain in Early Access until the core gameplay systems, world, and story reach the level of quality and scale that matches our vision for the project.

Since the game is being developed by a team of only two people, we don't want to commit to a specific timeline. Delivering a polished experience is more important to us than releasing the full version by a particular date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to gradually expand nearly every aspect of the game.

Our primary goal is to increase the size and density of the world by introducing new points of interest, unique dungeons, characters, ruined structures, ships, collectible items, secrets, and new stories that reveal more about the nature of the Abyss.

We also want to continue expanding the Soul Organ system, allowing each newly acquired organ not only to grant additional abilities but also to unlock previously inaccessible areas of the world.

Our plans also include expanding environmental interactions, exploration mechanics, new challenges, bosses, puzzles, and additional gameplay systems that will make every journey through the Abyss even more diverse.

Another important part of development is expanding the game's lore. We want to further explore the origins of the Abyss, its structure, the history of the souls that inhabit it, and the reasons behind its existence, gradually revealing new details as players progress.

Some ideas are still in the design phase and may evolve throughout development. We want Nearborn to grow with community feedback and the experience we gain during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At its current stage, Nearborn is already a fully playable experience featuring its core exploration mechanics.

Players can journey through the Abyss, explore the world, complete the first dungeons, search for Soul Organs, solve puzzles, interact with the environment, and discover the game's core concept.

At the same time, a significant portion of the world, new locations, mechanics, characters, and story content is still in development and will be gradually added throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We believe that as the project grows and more content is added, the overall value of the game will continue to increase.

For that reason, we may gradually adjust the price as major updates are released and the game approaches its full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“For us, Early Access is an opportunity to build Nearborn together with our players.

We carefully read community feedback, discussions, and suggestions. Player feedback helps us understand which mechanics work best, which ideas generate the most interest, and which areas of development should receive the highest priority.

Since Nearborn is being developed by a team of only two people, community feedback plays an important role in shaping our development priorities. We want Nearborn to grow not only through our own ideas but also with the help of those who begin exploring the Abyss from the very first days of Early Access.”

About This Game

You are a Soul awakened in the dark dimension of the Abyss. This place, where reality is woven from the memories of forgotten souls and emotions, reveals a vast, open world full of symbolic, surreal structures and mysterious constructs that hold a hidden metaphor for the truth of your existence.

Striving to find yourself, you journey through the desolate expanse, discovering traces left by other travelers, passing trials, and restoring the ancient Ark, which will become your chance to leave this dimension. This is a story where the soul's journey becomes a metaphor for human growth, and each step a search for meaning amidst silence and solitude.

Atmosphere and unique visual style

A dark, oppressive, and mysterious world, where the heavy air and silhouettes of forgotten forms create a space that reminds us that reality itself here is a reflection of inner experiences.

A vast open world

Explore desert plains, cliffs, dead waters, surreal structures, and monuments reflecting the emotions and experiences of lost souls. The world operates by its own laws and unfolds as you grow.

A variety of challenges and dungeons

Each challenge is an independent story, a metaphor, or a fragment of a human journey. Within, puzzles, traps, architectural anomalies, and unusual mechanics await you, revealing the essence of the Abyss.

Unique progression system

As you journey, you collect fragments of your essence, gain new abilities, change your perception of the world, and unlock access to previously closed places.

Magical compass

A special tool that points the way to the hidden goals of the world: important objects, key points, and your future destiny. It does not provide ready-made answers, but directs you to where your soul will find the next fragment of itself.

Unique transport - the Sand Boat

An ancient boat capable of gliding across both sand and dead waters. It opens up new routes, allows you to explore distant territories, and becomes a symbol of your journey.

A metaphorical art game

Nearborn is not just an adventure, but an art project and a philosophical metaphor, created by developers inspired by themes of self-discovery, loneliness, and inner search. Each location is an image, and every action is a response to deep human emotions.

Nearborn offers a unique, profound, and emotional journey that cannot be replicated in any other genre. It is an experience that stays with the player for a long time—like the trace of a forgetful soul finding its form.
