What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Echo Shift began as a question: what if you could be in multiple places at once? The core mechanic — recording and replaying temporal echoes — is fully realized and playable across three complete levels. But we believe the best puzzle games are shaped by the people who play them.

Early Access allows us to:
- Refine puzzle difficulty based on real player feedback — we want challenging but fair
- Expand the story with additional levels that continue the narrative
- Polish the experience — improved visuals, audio design, and quality-of-life features
- Build with our community — your ideas and feedback directly influence development
We're fully committed to seeing Echo Shift through to completion.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate 6-12 months of active Early Access development before full release, with regular updates throughout.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the game’s overall scope with additional content, deeper systems, and more strategic options. The full version is intended to deliver a more polished experience, with improved balance, refined visuals, better performance, and expanded progression. Community feedback from Early Access will help guide feature refinement and shape future additions as development continues.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is currently playable and feature-complete at a core level, offering the full foundational gameplay loop. Players can experience the main systems, mechanics, and overall vision, with ongoing updates focused on refinement, balance, content expansion, and polish based on community feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We're not planning on changing the price when we leave early access”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to involve the community by actively listening to feedback, bug reports, and suggestions through Steam discussions, Discord, and playtesting. Player input will help shape balance adjustments, system refinements, quality-of-life improvements, and overall direction as development continues.”

About This Game

The Awakening

You open your eyes to cold fluorescent light and the hum of machinery. A research facility stretches out before you — sterile corridors, locked doors, and the faint smell of something burned. You don't know your name. You don't know how you got here. The only thing you know is that you need to get out.

Strapped to your wrist is a device you don't remember putting on. When you press the button, something impossible happens: a ghost of yourself appears, replaying the last 15 seconds of your actions. The researchers called them temporal echoes. You'll call them your only way out.

The Facility

This place was built to study time. The notes left behind speak of breakthroughs and disasters, of test subjects pushed too far, of an experiment that should never have been approved. Room by room, you'll piece together what happened here — and why you were left behind.

Scattered clipboards hold riddles written by those who came before. Some are warnings. Some are puzzles. One name keeps appearing in the margins: Subject 47. They escaped. The path they carved through this facility is still here, hidden in cryptic clues and half-burned documents. Follow their footsteps, or forge your own.

The Echoes

The device on your wrist can store up to three temporal echoes — perfect 15-second recordings of your past self. These aren't just recordings. They're real. Your echoes can press buttons, stand on pressure plates, and hold doors open while the real you moves freely.

The facility was designed to be inescapable by a single person. But you're not a single person anymore.

  • Record your actions — Walk a path, press a button, pull a lever. Your echo will replay it exactly.

  • Layer multiple echoes — Later rooms require two or three echoes working in perfect synchronization.

  • Time everything precisely — 15 seconds isn't long. Every step matters.

The Puzzles

Each room in the facility presents a new challenge:

  • Timed button sequences — Some doors require multiple buttons held simultaneously. Record echoes to hold them while you walk through.

  • Multi-floor coordination — Elevators, staircases, and launch pads connect sprawling vertical rooms. Your echoes can ride lifts and reach platforms you can't.

  • Cryptic riddles — The researchers left clues in their notes. Colored buttons, symbol sequences, and environmental hints guide you to solutions.

  • Escalating complexity — What starts as simple single-echo puzzles evolves into intricate three-echo choreography across multiple floors.

Features

  • Unique temporal echo mechanic — Record ghosts of yourself that interact with the world

  • 3 handcrafted levels with distinct visual themes and escalating difficulty

  • Environmental storytelling — Piece together the facility's dark history through scattered notes and cryptic messages

  • Multi-floor puzzle design — Elevators, stairs, and launch pads create vertical challenges

  • Sequence and symbol puzzles — Decode riddles to find the correct button order

  • Atmospheric sci-fi setting — Abandoned corridors, humming machinery, and the echo of footsteps that aren't yours

  • 2-4 hours of gameplay — Longer if you search for every note and secret

What Makes Echo Shift Different

Most puzzle games give you tools that exist outside yourself. Echo Shift makes you the tool. Your echoes aren't AI companions or summoned helpers — they're recordings of your own decisions, your own timing, your own path through the room. When a puzzle clicks, it's because you choreographed yourself perfectly.

There's no combat. No enemies. Just you, your echoes, and rooms designed to be impossible — until they're not.
