What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want to get widespread player feedback to improve the game before we go live with the full release. We’ve already incorporated some excellent community input.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Six months to a year. We’ll leave Early Access when we release Earthfall on consoles.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The final release will feature:

  • Performance optimization
  • A second campaign
  • More enemy types
  • Versions of the game for Xbox One and PS4
  • Additional game modes
  • And more!

However, our main focus for early access is listening to Earthfollower feedback and prioritizing accordingly. We want to make sure we have a great foundation to work on as we expand the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The first campaign with four difficulty levels is in the Early Access version right now, working and stable. While we expect you’ll have hours of fun shooting aliens, kibitzing on strategy with teammates, and exploring the story, there are a number of issues that we’re aware of. We are actively working on significant performance improvements, animation polish, soundscape improvements, difficulty tuning, and just polish in general, all in addition to new content updates. We have already been incorporating community feedback, such as adding an FOV slider, and will continue to take player input to heart.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Earthfall is currently $14.99 for the Early Access. It will cost $29.99 when we go to full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are listening to the community to gather ideas, feedback, and issues, and keeping you abreast as to what we’re up to. Join us in the discussion forums and let us know what you think!”

Update! Perf Improvements, Mixer Updates, Audio Improvements, Weapons Improvements, And More

Happy Memorial Day Weekend Earthfall fans! Just in time for the 3-day holiday (at least here in the US) we are proud to deliver what is honestly a massive patch, with a ton of improvements, updates, and bug fixes leading up to our big release on July 13th!

Perf Improvements
We continue to work tirelessly on improving perf across the board, and this update is no exception. We have made significant optimizations to all core systems of the game. Art, FX, Audio and AI performance tuning, as well as some bug fixing, should have those folks struggling to keep a steady framerate seeing significant gains and noticeable improvements. We are not done, and we will keep at it, but players should feel the differences immediately!

Mixer Fixes/Update
We recently unveiled our Mixer integration as part of Mixer’s one-year anniversary. It’s chaotic to say the least, with viewers able to spawn enemies, weapons, and more using their mixer currency. This update fixes some issues with some of the buttons not working (the grenade and Valkyrie buttons now work!), as well as some under-the-hood improvements. Bosses now start on cool down, giving hapless players a shot to getting going before they get creamed. In addition to the initial cooldowns, we now also link the cooldowns on specials and bosses, so, sorry, no more 2 bosses and 4 specials all at the same time. This mode is not for the weak of heart, but incredibly fun to watch! Try at your own risk 😉.

Audio Improvements
We HEARD you! Along with the significant performance optimizations and bug fixes mentioned above, we also started focusing in on tuning each and every sound in the game! We did another massive pass at the weapons and we are sure you will be excited to hear the results. We also did a ton of work around alien sounds, so expect to get scared out of your mind when you hear all of their signature audio, and now you can figure out where they are coming from before they eat you! We also polished the overall mix of the game! Like how they do it in film, we went into the studio and made sure that explosions were massive, aliens were creepy, the music gets you all tense and tingly, all while still being able to hear the new delicious weapon sounds. Not an easy task to say the least. We salute you Michael Bay!

Weapons Improvements
Along with audio improvements for every single weapon, we have been hard at work tuning each weapon experience, including adding recoil to all the weapons which was a big community request. We made some significant changes to the Valkyrie as well, including making this a primary weapon, so you can hold it in place of your primary and still rock a Harbinger! You still can’t reload it, but it’s a devastating combo. It also received both FX and Audio improvements and it’s, well, badass. Give it a try! Speaking of devastating, the landmines were less than that, but that has all changed, as both the effect radius and overall damage have been buffed significantly. Many, many more minor tweaks were made as well, and we are still working on some big improvements for our next patch (still super-secret but awesome). Stay tuned!

Summary
All in all, over 2000 different bugs, optimizations, improvements and features are included in the update. Wow! We love hearing your feedback, so keep it coming. Keep posting here, on the Official Earthfall Forums and chat with developers and fans on the Official Discord Channel. We are listening!

Early Access Pricing Ending Soon

Greetings fans! Earlier this week we announced Earthfall’s July 13, 2018 release date! As we near the completion of the shipping version of Earthfall we’ll be raising the price from $14.99 to the retail release price of $29.99 starting on June 8, 2018.

Earthfall wouldn't be where it is today without the support of our community during Early Access. From all the positive comments, constructive criticism, and overwhelming support at events like PAX and Gamescom, you have helped us craft a game that we are all proud of here at Holospark.

June 8th will be your last day to get Earthfall for the low low price of $14.99! It’s a perfect time to pick up extra keys for your friends to get everyone in for an epic four player co-op experience or finally getting that key for yourself.

But development doesn't end here! We will continue to listen to your feedback as we transition to our final release and post-launch support. Make sure you keep posting to the Steam Community, the Official Earthfall Forums and join the Official Discord Channel and talk with other fans and the development team.

Back when the Genie Workbench 5 got popular you could almost hear the class action lawyers salivating. "A printer that could print anything" was a Pandora's Box for the average citizen. People had proven that you could print functional guns with plastic as far back as 2016, and with the Workbench 5's steel filament capability, the gloves were off.

Well, Genie made sure to put them back on. Workbenches could only print pre-designated plans downloaded from Genie, detected tampering would disable the printer, there were periodic inspections, tracking devices, legal penalties, etc. Were there abuses? Sure. But not many. The government worked hand in hand with Genie to make sure that it didn't get out of control.

So when the printers all started receiving the plans for weapons, it was clear that somebody at the highest levels had activated a disaster plan. It's a shame the download got interrupted by the Pulse. I've looked at the files that were downloaded, and they all start with "Batch_1of7_xxx". - Wayne Moss, Engineer
