Why Early Access?

“We see Early Access as the beginning of a journey with our community. TROLLHEIM: GNOMES is set in Trollheim, a world inspired by Nordic folklore, built around discovery, mythical encounters and the things that happen when you explore it.

We want to develop the game alongside players, your feedback is valued and has the opportunity to improve the long term experience of the game. There’s a lot more we want to do with the world, its Väsen, crafting, building and the systems that bring it to life. Early Access gives us the chance to understand what works best, together.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Early Access to last 12–18 months. We have a vision for 1.0 and this will give us time to expand the foundation of the game, iterate on and introduce new content, new features and improve existing systems with feedback from the community. The timeline may change as development progresses, but the principle is the same: we want to build, test and learn together. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the Dark Forest with more biomes, Väsen, features, crafting and building options, alongside deeper gameplay systems and more of Gnome culture to discover. As you transition from surviving to thriving - something darker is stirring in the world that will threaten the Dark Forest.

We want to give players more ways to explore the world and make it their own. What we prioritise along the way will depend in part on what we learn from the community.

This is just the start of you making the Dark Forest your home. ”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version includes:
- Core survival gameplay
- A wide variety of biomes that each offer their own challenges
- Several unique Väsen
- Crafting, processing & cooking across multiple tiers
- Treehouse building & vertical traversal
- Cave networks & underground exploration
- Solo play and co-op multiplayer

There’s already a world to explore, things to make and places to discover. You can head into the forest alone or bring your friends along. Just be prepared for what you might find.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Our pricing and plans for future content will be communicated as details are confirmed closer to launch. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want to hear from you, the players. We’ll be active on Steam forums and Discord, sharing updates, answering questions and listening to feedback.

Tell us what you enjoy, what isn’t working and what you’d like to see more of. We can’t promise implementation, but your feedback will help us make decisions about where to take the game next.

We’ll share our plans and development progress as openly as we can. Early Access is a chance for us to grow the Dark Forest with the players who want to be part of it.”
