What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“FriedrichAI is being released in Early Access to gather feedback and improve stability, usability, and feature depth in real-world use.

Core functionality — including the local AI runtime, persistent memory system, and context-aware responses — is already implemented and usable. During Early Access, we are expanding capabilities, improving performance, and refining the user experience.

Features and behavior may evolve over time as the system is improved based on feedback. The goal is to deliver a stable, fully featured offline AI assistant while maintaining performance and reliability across a wide range of hardware.

UI note: The current interface is intentionally basic while core systems are still being built and stabilized. The goal right now is to lock down functionality first, then improve and refine the UI as features settle.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“6-12 months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of FriedrichAI is planned to expand on the core functionality available in Early Access, with a focus on improved performance, stability, and usability.

Planned improvements include enhanced context handling, more efficient long-term memory, expanded feature support, and a more refined user interface. Additional tools and customization options will be introduced to support a wider range of workflows and use cases.

The goal is to deliver a stable, fully featured offline AI assistant that is reliable, responsive, and adaptable to different user needs.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of FriedrichAI is functional and usable as a fully local, offline AI assistant. It includes a working user interface, local model execution, and a persistent memory system for maintaining context across interactions.

Users can interact with the system through a text-based interface, generate code and written content, and use it for development, productivity, and general problem-solving — all without requiring an internet connection.

Ongoing updates during Early Access will focus on improving performance, expanding capabilities, and refining the overall user experience.”

Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of FriedrichAI will increase as development progresses, additional features, improvements and refinements are added after Early Access.

Early Access provides an opportunity to purchase the product at a lower price while it is still evolving.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to involve the community by gathering feedback from Early Access users and using it to guide improvements to performance, usability, and features.

User input will help identify issues, prioritize updates, and refine the overall experience. We will monitor feedback and continue improving the application throughout Early Access based on real-world use.

Our goal is to build a stable and useful offline AI assistant shaped by practical feedback from its users.”

About This Software

Demo Available

A free demo is available for FriedrichAI.

The demo is meant to help you confirm that FriedrichAI launches and runs on your system before buying the full version. It is a frozen compatibility snapshot, not a time-limited trial. It uses the safest compatibility path, so performance may be slower than the full app on supported hardware.

If the demo does not launch or does not run well on your machine, please do not buy the full version yet. FriedrichAI is a local AI app, and hardware compatibility matters.

Run AI locally. No cloud required. No subscription. No account.

Turn off WiFi — FriedrichAI still works.

FriedrichAI runs on your PC, giving you a private, self-contained AI workspace without relying on cloud servers, online accounts, or monthly subscriptions. Your chats, memory, local context, saved sessions, and project data stay on your machine.

FriedrichAI is designed for people who want AI that runs on their own hardware — not in the cloud.

It can help with writing, planning, problem-solving, ideation, project thinking, general day-to-day assistance, and organizing work across local chat sessions and project tools.

Most AI tools depend on remote servers, accounts, subscriptions, API billing, and usage limits. FriedrichAI’s core experience does not. You own it. You run it. It answers to you.

Offline by default

FriedrichAI does not need an API key to run.

The main local AI experience works offline. Chat, local memory, saved conversations, project tools, and the core assistant are designed around local use.

Optional online/web features are available for users who choose to enable them. These are separate from the offline core experience and may require the user’s own API key, provider setup, or configuration. If you only want the offline local assistant, you can ignore those options.

Built for local control

FriedrichAI runs on your own hardware, so speed, quality, and feature performance depend on your PC. It is designed for private offline use, not cloud-scale AI performance.

Start with the base app first. Confirm that chat works before installing optional media packs, changing models, or adjusting advanced settings.

Optional image, video, and audio features may require additional downloads and stronger hardware. NVIDIA systems currently have the strongest support path. AMD/Vulkan/DirectML support is experimental and may vary by system.

New and expanded features

FriedrichAI has grown beyond a simple local chat window.

Recent updates include a cleaner desktop-style interface, saved chat management, chat switching, saved chat search, a local Project Board, optional web search tools, and a local model manager for supported GGUF models.

The goal is to make FriedrichAI feel more like a local AI workspace: chat, plan, save, organize, search, and keep working without handing everything to a cloud service.

Organize tasks using the local Project Board

Save, reopen, and search local chat sessions

Retain useful local context over time

Help manage local project thinking without needing a cloud account

Use optional web search when configured by the user

Use optional media packs for image, video, and audio generation where supported

Run without relying on cloud AI services for the main assistant experience

Project Board

FriedrichAI includes a local Project Board for organizing work into Todo, Doing, Blocked, and Done.

It is a simple kanban-style board built into the app so you can break down ideas, track tasks, and keep project work near your AI assistant.

This is not cloud project management. It is a local planning tool for your own machine.

Saved Chats

FriedrichAI now supports saved local chat sessions.

You can keep separate conversations, reopen old chats, switch between sessions, and search saved chats from the interface.

This helps FriedrichAI work more like a long-term local workspace instead of a disposable single chat window.

Model Manager

The full version includes a local model manager for supported GGUF models.

Advanced users can place compatible models in the local workspace model folder, scan for them, and switch the active model.

The default included model still works out of the box. Model swapping is optional and intended for users who understand local model size, RAM, VRAM, and compatibility limits.

Optional Web Search

FriedrichAI is offline by default.

Optional web search tools are available for users who choose to enable them. These features are separate from the core offline assistant and may require the user’s own provider setup or API key.

The local assistant does not require web access.

Optional Media Packs

FriedrichAI supports optional media features through additional packs where supported.

These may include image generation, video generation, and audio generation tools. Media generation can be much heavier than chat and may require stronger hardware, additional downloads, and more setup.

Start with chat first. Add optional media later only if your system can handle it.

Demo vs Full Version

The demo is free and is meant to test baseline compatibility.

The full version is the actively updated product and includes the main FriedrichAI experience, local memory, saved chats, Project Board, model manager, tier options, ongoing improvements, and access to optional feature packs where supported.

The demo is not time-gated, but it may not include the newest full-version updates, optional systems, or latest interface improvements.

System Tiers

High — best quality, strongest hardware requirements, NVIDIA GPU recommended

Mid — balanced option for supported systems

Low — safest compatibility path, CPU-friendly, slower but more likely to run

Not sure where to start? Try the demo first. In the full version, start with the safest tier that runs well on your system, then move up if your hardware can handle it.

Important hardware note

FriedrichAI is local software. That means your experience depends heavily on your machine.

A stronger PC can run better models and optional media features. A weaker PC may need the Low tier or may not be suitable for some optional systems.

If you are unsure, try the free demo before buying.
