About This Game

▶ Story Background

Hundreds of years in the future, the moon is about to fall. Almost all of humanity has chosen to abandon Earth, venturing into the vastness of space in search of a new home.

But you made a different choice — you chose to stay. You chose to witness, with your own eyes, the end of this planet.

When you thought you were the only person within hundreds of miles who had decided to remain, you unexpectedly met a stranger before the town’s clock tower — a woman with fiery red hair.
She called herself “12.”

You decided to stay with each other until the very last moment.

Yet, as you spend more time with 12, you gradually come to realize that this mysterious woman bears a secret that transcends time itself —
a secret deeply connected to you, and to all of us.

▶ Gameplay

When the Moon Falls, We Speak is a choice-driven, click-based visual novel. One of its main mechanics is exploring the town by clicking on any object that interests you, collecting fragments of information, and triggering conversations with 12.

12 will often ask for your opinions on various topics. You can respond according to your own beliefs. The game measures your philosophy across six dimensions, and based on your responses and values, 12’s view of you will shift accordingly.

Please note that most of 12’s beliefs will not change because of your choices. That’s all right — she’s willing to embrace new perspectives, and a few debates won’t harm your relationship.

Through your dialogues with her, you will gradually uncover the oddities surrounding her existence. In moments of reflection, you can piece together fragments of information, answering questions that will lead you closer to the truth behind 12’s identity.

▶ Others

This entire game was completed solely by me within a short period of time — including the art, music, programming, and writing. My only purpose was to tell a story that has lingered in my mind for many years.

Naturally, there are many imperfections. I’ve never received formal training in art, music, or programming, and I regret that some of the pixel art may look quite unpolished.

This game also pays homage to several works that I deeply love, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Disco Elysium.

Lastly, I would like to thank all my friends who helped me during development — especially the dear Selen Liu, whose support in music, art, and constant reminders to get some sleep were absolutely invaluable.
