Until that fateful day in September 2001, when the myth of American invincibility fell alongside the Twin Towers,symbols of the nation’s hubris.

Meanwhile, the new Russia, sidelined even within what was once its sphere of influence, grows increasingly bitter at the West’s disregard for its efforts. A class of unscrupulous oligarchs, quick to master capitalism, seizes control of the nation’s wealth.

In the wake of the Afghan war and the Soviet Union’s dissolution, nationalism, religious fervor, and ethnic tensions ignite the southern flank of the Russian Federation.

This DLC expands the timeline of the game to include the years 1989 to 2001, for both the USA and the USSR.

As usual, you’ll find a mix of smaller scenarios and massive campaigns (1949–2001).

Playing through the final decade of the 20th century, you may often feel like you’re fighting against yourself, or against the system, rather than competing with the other superpower.

You’ll find that this has its own unique charm.
