What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Tomo Jam already delivers a complete local co-op and single-player sandbox, but there’s more music to make. Early Access lets players jump in early, share feedback, and help shape the future of the game. We plan to develop new single-player and multiplayer modes (including a campaign) and full online multiplayer.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About one year. We want enough time to build and refine the new features, especially online multiplayer and the campaign mode, while incorporating community feedback. The goal is to make sure everything feels smooth, fun, and musically rewarding before the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our plan for the full version of Tomo Jam is to expand on what’s already there with additional single-player modes, a full campaign, and full-featured online multiplayer. We’re also planning to improve the song tools, add more customization options, and polish the overall experience based on what players share during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Tomo Jam includes full single-player and local multiplayer support for up to four players. Players can perform any of the included and original MIDI songs, or add their own custom MIDI files to play instantly. All core gameplay features are complete — including multiple difficulty modes, tempo control, and adaptive note ranges that make every song playable on a controller.

The game is fully stable and feature-rich enough for endless jam sessions, but there’s still plenty of room to grow. During Early Access, we’ll be focusing on online multiplayer, expanded single-player modes (including a campaign), and general polish based on community feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. During Early Access, Tomo Jam will be available at 50% off its planned full release price. As planned features like online multiplayer, campaign mode, and expanded tools are added, the price will gradually increase toward the full release value. Early players get the best deal and a front-row seat to the game as it grows.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will be a big part of Tomo Jam’s development. Players will be able to share ideas, report bugs, and suggest new features through Steam discussions and our Discord server.

We’ll be listening closely to what players enjoy most, from favorite difficulty settings to how they use custom MIDI files, and using that input to guide updates, polish gameplay, and shape new content like the campaign and online multiplayer. Early Access is our chance to jam together, experiment, and build the best version of Tomo Jam as a community.”

About This Game

TomoJam

Play music your way with nothing but a game controller.

TomoJam turns your controller into a real instrument. Jam solo or form a chaotic four-player band on the couch as you perform real MIDI songs with surprising musical depth.

Play, Jam, and Laugh

Every direction on your D-pad and face buttons corresponds to real notes. Use shoulder buttons to shift or sharpen notes, and the game automatically adapts to each song, no matter how many octaves it spans. It’s expressive, intuitive, and hilariously fun when your friends hit the wrong note.

Choose Your Challenge

TomoJam scales with your skill level. Amateur mode keeps it simple with just two notes, great for jumping in. Pro opens up the full layout without sharps or octaves, and Master brings the full experience where every note counts. You can also slow down or speed up songs to practice tricky parts or turn mellow tunes into high-speed chaos.

A Musical Sandbox

TomoJam includes a library of public-domain MIDI tracks (plus a few originals), but the real magic starts when you add your own. Drop in any MIDI file and start playing, no setup, no editing, just pure creative freedom.

Play Alone or Together

Jam solo or with up to four players locally. Online play is coming during Early Access, so you’ll soon be able to share your performances from anywhere.

Learn, Create, Experiment

The note charts mirror real musical notation, helping you learn while you play. Every note you hit, or miss, rings out in real time, turning every session into equal parts concert and comedy.
