In the beginning, there was... a Donut. This Donut was large and delicious, as donuts ought to be.

This Donut also happened to be floating in the cosmos, lost amidst the galaxies and stars of our universe.

Over time, the Donut became stale (as donuts do), and the sugar crystals turned into other crystals, and the jam transformed into earth and ocean-water, and the icing gave rise to inclement weather. It was in this new world, on this very Donut, that the land of Genesis was born!

Today, Genesis has been around for a long time, long enough that the Donut has been populated with both man and monster, elf and halfling, vampire and ghoul, and every other creature under the skies. Now, it is your turn to enter this world...

Will you be a noble hero? A cruel tyrant? A humble fisherman? A greedy pirate? A knight of old? A sorcerer of the arcane? A dragon-tamer? The world of Genesis gives you these opportunities, gives you a chance——the chance to become. Whether you grow into a king alongside worthy allies, or wish to travel through forests and swamps, hunting and questing, or end up an assassin, facing treachery at each turn——everything lies in your hands. The power is yours, and yours alone.

A Legacy

Genesis MUD is a text-based role-playing game, otherwise known as a Multi-User Dungeon. Perhaps you're familiar with the term, or more likely, you're scratching your head and wondering where the cool graphics are. Well, they're in your head!

This MUD has been around for almost 36 years, and was born in Gothenburg, Sweden at Chalmers University. The brainchild of Lars Pensjö (who created the LPMud software), Genesis has grown through the decades, from before the rise of the first MMPORGs, all the way into the advent of this newfangled thing they call VR gaming!

Today, we offer you something unique—an experience unlike other games. With a long-running and rich history, a tight-knit and welcoming community, and a robust skill/spell/armour/guild/roleplay/literally-everything-ever-system, we want you to join us. Ultimately, if you love it enough (like we do), not only can you play, but you can even help add onto and improve the game!
