About This Game

A love story about regret.

Lacuna is adapted from a true story. It is not long, but it is enough to bring you to tears.

The protagonist, a 28-year-old illustrator, upon being diagnosed with a brain tumor, begins frantically creating a sketchbook—drawing his lover, UU. But as his condition worsens, she gradually fades from clear and vivid to nothing more than a faceless silhouette.

Through a series of interactive narrative vignettes, you will experience everything—from the flutter of first meeting as roommates, to the sweetness of falling in love, to the desperate lie of a forced breakup, and finally to the despair of being unable to recall her face. When memory becomes fragile, love becomes instinct.

Lacuna is a struggle against “goodbye”: he loves her through the forgetting, mocking death’s futility in the process.

Through a love destined to fade into oblivion and parting, we hope that after reaching the end, you will feel the immediate urge to contact the most important person in your life.

Core Features

The game employs a unique reverse-chronology + memory-recall structure. The story begins on the lawn of a care home, where the protagonist faces the despair of no longer being able to draw his lover’s face. As you turn the pages of his sketchbook with him, you travel back to the summer of 2022—from the flutter of sharing an apartment, to the sweetness of love, to the lie of a forced separation—step by step, walking toward an inevitable end.

Hand-Drawn Art & Emotional Soundtrack

The entire game is rendered in a hand-drawn style, with delicate brushstrokes capturing every expression of the characters and every scenic detail. Paired with an original, hauntingly mournful soundtrack, the game creates a world that is at once warm and profoundly lonely—allowing the emotional tension to flow through every frame and every note.

Lacuna tells a story of “too late,” but what we want to leave players with is the feeling that “it’s not too late yet.”
