Why Early Access?

“Tobiano had a rich set of features, with a fully functioning breeding system, complex coat patterns and riding and care mechanics. The game is a working horse simulation. The decision to add an overarching narrative is an important aspect that was added later in development. The extra work is worth it, because of the potential for this game to reach users in an educational, but also creative and entertaining way”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Tobiano is planned for full release in the summer/fall of 2026. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The main quest line has the first 3 chapters implemented and the last 2-3 not in the game yet. There are more daily quests and items still to be added and the game and graphics/animations lack some polish. Some NPCs are still to be added, and some scenery is missing.

A number of features and items are planned for long term development, but these will come after the base game is released and are listed in the Development Roadmap”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The early access will contain breeding, buying and selling horses, training from young horse to Grand Prix, crafting tack, producing and selling feed for horses, the main quest line, daily quests, trails and arena figures. There are literally billions of coat colors are in the game, but a somewhat limited selection of tack and clothing items that will be expanded. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The early access version of the game will be at a slightly discounted price compared with the final version of the game. The price will be raised gradually to reflect increased features and content”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is welcome to contribute to the development through polls and discussions on our discord server. The testers have been an absolutely vital aspect of the planning of future features, as well as shaping the state of the game in its current state. The game looks quite different from how it started out, because of input from users!”

About This Game

Tobiano is a sport horse simulator with realistic genetics, management, and riding. Shop for horses and train them through the levels to succeed at shows or sell for profit. Breed horses with unique personalities and conformation. Grow your facility to add stables, farm feed, or craft tack.

Notice: Tobiano requires an internet connection because of multiplayer features planned for the future.

Training

In Tobiano, horses aren’t born knowing how to be ridden. You start the training process by backing the horse, then work your way through dressage movements to unlock new levels of training. Just like in real life, horses are not always successful when learning new movements. Horses also have temperaments and fitness levels which will impact their ride ability. Horses can get stressed by high demands like new exercises or strenuous work. For now Tobiano is focused on dressage, but jumping and other disciplines are in progress and will be added later on.

Breeding

Tobiano features a complex breeding system that includes personality traits, ten different color genes, and conformation traits. A mare’s nutrition needs and conformation will change throughout the pregnancy, which lasts almost a year in game. Refine your line by strategically selling horses and breed for more valuable horses.

There are ten different color genes, and multiple phenotypes for each.  There are literally billions of unique coats in the game. Also, grey horses get lighter with age!

Feeding and management

You can’t make a horse faster or more agile with feed. In Tobiano, feed is made up of different nutrients found in the real world, like protein, energy, vitamins and minerals. A horse’s nutrient requirements depend on their workload, size, and life stage. You can grow some of your own feed at your farm to be more self-sufficient.

Tack

Tobiano has a tack shop where you can buy gear for horse and rider. All tack comes in different colors and styles, so there are endless combinations that can add to your horse’s individuality. Tack is unlocked with gold which can be earned by maintaining your login streak or doing daily quests. Unlocked tack can also be crafted in the workshop. Spare tack can be sold for an extra income or equipped on your horses.

Explore

Tobiano is semi-open world with a town center, home stables, and trails to explore.  You can take your horses out to train, do quests, or complete daily challenges.
