What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Politiks is a strategy game with a lot of interconnected mechanics, where experimentation, card synergies, and adapting to changing campaign conditions are a big part of the fun. Early Access will help me improve balance, pacing, clarity, and long-term progression by seeing how real players break, exploit, and outsmart the systems in ways I cannot fully predict on my own.

I want to use this period to refine the core campaign loop, expand content variety, improve onboarding and usability, and continue shaping the game with community feedback. For a game built around replayability, emergent interactions, and strategic experimentation, player input is especially valuable.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect Politiks to remain in Early Access for around 6 months, though development time may shift depending on feedback, iteration needs, and the overall scope of improvements I decide to pursue.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan for the full version of Politiks to include more content, more variety, and a more fully realized campaign experience.

This may include additional cards, blocs, staff members, campaign buttons, events, propaganda options, reputations, and strategic systems that deepen build variety and replayability. I also plan to continue improving game balance, interface clarity, progression, audiovisual polish, and overall campaign depth based on player feedback.

My goal is for the full version to feel broader, cleaner, and more strategically rich, while keeping the core identity of the game intact.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already includes the core gameplay loop and is fully playable.

Players can build and play through campaigns using the card system, manage resources, respond to voter blocs, recruit staff, equip campaign buttons, and adapt to dynamic events as they unfold. The current version also includes core deck-building, card merging, streak mechanics, bloc interactions, rival pressure, progression systems, and multiple strategic ways to approach a run.

While the game is already playable and feature-complete enough for active feedback, it is still being expanded and refined. Some content, balancing, polish, and long-term progression features are still planned for further iteration during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to gradually raise the price as new content, features, and polish are added throughout Early Access. Players who jump in early will be helping shape the game during development and will likely enter at a lower price than the full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play a major role in shaping Politiks during Early Access.

I plan to listen closely to player feedback on balance, pacing, usability, build variety, and overall fun, especially since the game is built around emergent card interactions and strategic experimentation. Community discussion will help me identify what feels satisfying, what feels confusing, and what deserves to be expanded.

I expect to use player feedback from forums, community spaces, and playtesting to help guide improvements, prioritize quality-of-life changes, and shape future additions during development.”

About This Game

BUILD YOUR POLITICAL EMPIRE

Start as a community leader and climb to world leader. Each campaign unlocks new cards, staff, and dirty tricks that make your next run even more devious.

Fast-Paced and Replayable
Each campaign lasts about 5-10 minutes, roughly the same attention span as the average voter. Perfect for quick runs, shameless retries, and unlocking upgrades you probably did not deserve.

Dynamic Gameplay
Every turn rewrites the rules because politics is chaos and so is this game. Cards react to the situation, the situation reacts to your cards, and if everything falls apart, just merge two cards and pretend it was a strategic masterplan.

Powerups That Carry Over
Collect Campaign Buttons, hire questionably qualified Staff Members, or unleash full scale Propaganda. Whatever you hoard, plus leftover Funds, rolls into your next campaign. Fiscal responsibility not included.

Bloc System
Each campaign meet new voters with different quirks, demands, and emotional volatility. Manage them well and they will reward you. Ignore them and your approval rating gets set on fire.

!!!WARNING: BULLET POINTS INCOMING!!!

FEATURES:

  • Political Satire: Claw your way from Community Leader to World Leader in a campaign where dignity is optional and winning is not.

  • Card Categories: Use three card types to make money, win support, and ruin someone else's afternoon.

  • Card Merging: Smash cards together to create stronger plays and weirder political science.

  • Limited Usage: Cards wear out over time, but that is not the end of them. Merge them into something beautiful.

  • Disruption: Cheat your way to victory, if your timing is good enough to stop rival actions cold.

  • Rival All-In: Let the rival fill their gauge and they will throw a full-blown political tantrum across every bloc at once.

  • Propaganda: Spend rare resources on powerful campaign-changing effects when honesty stops polling well.

  • Minigames: Settle debates with rock-paper-scissors, deliver speeches by spinning roulette, and handle budgeting the traditional way by pocketing the money and ignoring the people's needs.

  • Dynamic Effects: Card values shift based on stats, voters/blocs, weather, and whatever nonsense the campaign throws at you.

  • Streaking: (Not what you're thinking) Chain matching card colors to boost your cards and keep the momentum rolling.

  • Multiple Voter and Bloc Types: Win over distinct voters/blocs with unique behavior, conflicting interests, and no appreciation whatsoever.

  • Rival Intents: See the rival's next move before it happens, because even a bad strategy needs planning.

  • Status Effects: Stack buffs, debuffs, and dirty little conditions until victory starts looking suspiciously achievable.

  • Weather System: Use the forecast to your advantage by playing the right cards for extra bonuses.

  • Calendar Events: Reschedule your upcoming events, or just deal with the disaster as scheduled.

  • Staff Members: Hire staff for bonuses and synergies while they quietly embezzle campaign funds.

  • Campaign Buttons: Equip persistent passive perks, match the right set, and commit fashion crimes with purpose.

  • Reputation System: Play favorites with certain blocs and watch your reputation change at the end of every campaign.

  • Meta Upgrades: Address voter/bloc concerns to unlock permanent upgrades, because apparently listening has benefits.

  • Daily Agenda: Complete daily tasks for rewards and set yourself up nicely for the next campaign.

  • Campaign Progression: Win or lose, unlock more content as your campaign grows from local nuisance to world domination.

  • Candidate Creation: Build your candidate's look, stats, and carefully manufactured public identity.

  • Win Conditions: Win by votes or by crushing rival Integrity, whichever feels more statesmanlike.

  • Full Controller Support: Because democracy should be playable from your couch, your desk, or while avoiding real life responsibilities.

  • Steam Deck: Oh, and yes, it runs on Steam Deck, courtesy of some mysterious Proton sorcery.
