What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We believe community feedback is essential to creating the best possible horror experience. Early Access allows players to help shape After Hours: Library by providing feedback on gameplay, monster AI, pacing, difficulty, performance, accessibility, and overall player experience. Throughout Early Access, we plan to continue polishing the game, expanding content, improving visuals and audio, refining mechanics, and implementing community-driven improvements before the full 1.0 release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently plan for After Hours: Library to remain in Early Access until approximately November 10, 2026, our planned target for the full 1.0 release. While this is our current goal, the exact duration may change depending on development progress and community feedback as we continue improving the game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version focuses on the core gameplay experience and introduces players to Blithewell Library, its atmosphere, primary mechanics, and central mystery. Some planned content, areas, events, story elements, and polish are still in development. We intend to expand the game throughout Early Access while incorporating player feedback to help shape the final release.
Final art replacing remaining placeholder assets (characters/props/VFX)

Full audio pass (SFX variations, music cues, mix polish)

Accessibility options (e.g., subtitle tweaks, comfort settings), plus quality‑of‑life improvements

Achievements and final performance optimizations”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“After Hours: Library is fully playable from beginning to end and represents the core experience we envision for the full game. Players can complete an entire overnight shift while performing authentic librarian duties, exploring Blithewell Library, uncovering hidden lore, and surviving against a supernatural threat.

The Early Access version includes:

• A complete playable night shift with beginning and ending sequences.

• Core gameplay systems including shelving books, cataloging, book recovery, check-in tasks, stealth, exploration, and monster encounters.

• The primary explorable areas of Blithewell Library, along with hidden secrets, journals, and environmental storytelling.

• Dynamic AI, scripted and random supernatural events, and multiple scare sequences.

While fully playable, we'll continue expanding content, polishing visuals and audio, improving performance, balancing gameplay, and adding new areas, events, mechanics, and story content throughout Early Access.

Functional stalker AI, patrols, and detection systems

Controller and keyboard/mouse support with auto input switching

Some placeholder assets and ongoing balance/performance tuning”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to offer After Hours: Library at a lower introductory price during Early Access as a way of thanking players who join us early and help shape development through feedback.

As new content, features, improvements, and polish are added throughout Early Access, we expect the price to gradually increase leading up to the full 1.0 release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play an important role throughout Early Access. We'll actively collect player feedback through Steam Discussions, our official Discord server, surveys, gameplay videos, livestreams, bug reports, and community suggestions.

We'll regularly release updates, patch notes, and development progress while listening to feedback on gameplay balance, monster AI, difficulty, accessibility, performance, quality-of-life improvements, and new content ideas.

Our goal is to build After Hours: Library alongside our community and ensure the full release is shaped by the players who experience it first.”

About This Game

A Night Shift You'll Never Forget

The library closed hours ago.

The lights still flicker.
The phones still ring.
Someone is still returning books.

Welcome to After Hours: Library, a first-person psychological horror experience where ordinary night shift responsibilities become a desperate fight for survival.

Work alone through a haunted library from 12:00 AM until 6:00 AM, completing authentic librarian duties including shelving books, cataloging new arrivals, processing returns, organizing archives, and responding to unexpected incidents but every completed task pushes the night forward...

Something is stalking the aisles.

A mysterious book-headed entity learns your behavior, reacts to sound, patrols the library, and forces you to constantly choose between finishing your work or hiding for your life.

As the hours pass, uncover disturbing journals, hidden rooms, forgotten tunnels beneath the library, and the truth behind the disappearances of previous employees.

The library has secrets.

Morning isn't guaranteed.
