Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

Note: Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Bug Factory already has a playable core built around automation, resource management, bottleneck optimization, and incremental progression.

We're launching in Early Access because we want to expand the game beyond its initial progression loop while gathering feedback from real players.

Player experiences will help us refine game balance, progression pacing, interface clarity, and the decisions that make each new factory run interesting. Our goal is to build a deeper and more satisfying incremental game through continuous improvement.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Bug Factory to remain in Early Access for approximately 6 to 12 months.

This is an estimate rather than a fixed deadline. Development may move faster or take longer depending on player feedback, balancing, and how the planned progression systems evolve.

Our priority is to deliver a satisfying and polished 1.0 experience rather than rush toward a specific release date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Bug Factory focuses on its core incremental gameplay: building an automated software factory, optimizing production pipelines, managing bottlenecks, purchasing upgrades, and progressing through Major Releases.

For the full version, we plan to expand the depth and variety of progression rather than simply increase the numbers.

Our current development direction includes exploring:

- **Deeper progression and prestige systems:** Additional layers of progression that introduce new gameplay possibilities and meaningful decisions.
- **More strategic choices:** Different approaches to factory optimization, production goals, and upgrades that encourage experimentation.
- **Expanded factory management:** New challenges and systems that interact with existing automation, production capacity, and quality management.
- **Improved presentation and usability:** Continued improvements to visual clarity, feedback, balancing, and the overall player experience.
- **A more complete long-term experience:** A broader progression journey with greater replayability and satisfying milestones.

These are our current development goals, not guaranteed features. The final scope may evolve based on testing, development progress, and community feedback.

Our aim is for the full release to offer a significantly deeper and more rewarding incremental experience while preserving the accessible gameplay of Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Bug Factory currently offers a playable incremental automation experience built around managing and expanding a software production pipeline.
The core gameplay includes:
- Manual and automated production: Start by operating individual stations and gradually automate the entire pipeline.
- Factory optimization: Upgrade production speed and capacity, manage incoming workload, and identify bottlenecks.
- Quality management: Deal with software regressions and invest in improvements to reduce their impact.
- Prestige progression: Perform Major Releases to earn permanent Architecture improvements and strengthen future runs.
- Saving and offline progress: Save your factory and continue making progress while away from the game.
The current experience focuses on the foundation of the game's progression. While the core loop is functional and playable, the longer-term progression and variety of strategic choices are still being expanded.
Early Access will allow us to develop these systems further while improving balance, pacing, and usability based on player feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan to offer Bug Factory at an accessible price during Early Access.

As the game grows with additional content, deeper progression systems, and new features, we may increase the price when transitioning to the full 1.0 release.

We don't currently plan frequent price changes during Early Access, and any adjustments will be communicated to the community in advance.

Our goal is to offer fair value at every stage of development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to use Steam Discussions as our main channel for community feedback, bug reports, and suggestions.

We're particularly interested in hearing about progression pacing, game balance, usability, and which aspects of factory automation players find most enjoyable.

Community feedback will help us identify problems, evaluate ideas, and guide future development priorities. While we'll consider player suggestions, we'll also maintain a clear creative direction for Bug Factory.

We aim to share meaningful development updates as the game evolves, without committing to a fixed update schedule.

Our goal is to build a better incremental game through a combination of player feedback, testing, and our own vision for the project.”

About This Game

Bug Factory is an incremental automation game about turning a chaotic software pipeline into a highly optimized production machine.

Every bug must travel through the pipeline: Reproduce, Fix, Test and Deploy. At first, you'll handle the process manually. Before long, you'll automate each station, increase capacity, expand lanes and start pushing more and more work through the system.

Growth creates new problems. Queues build up, bottlenecks move from one stage to another, regressions disrupt your workflow and increasing Workload tests whether your factory can actually handle the pressure.

Upgrade your pipeline, identify its weakest points and decide where your resources will have the biggest impact.

Eventually, you'll be able to perform Major Releases, rebuilding parts of your factory while earning permanent Architecture Points that make future runs stronger and faster.

What begins as manually moving a few bugs through a pipeline gradually becomes a self-running system capable of processing enormous workloads.

Bug Factory is designed around automation, optimization and progression, with additional systems, challenges and progression planned as development continues.
