About This Game

Welcome to Inkthistle Hollow, where the library’s a little broken (well... fractured), the magic is misbehaving, and time keeps getting itself tangled in the curtains.

You’ll be helping me, Hazel. Witch, librarian, keeper of enchanted card catalogues, occasional soup enthusiast, restore order to our once-glorious collection.

Not that I let the library fall into chaos, mind you. It was the magic. And the glowing eyes. And possibly the screaming books. But let’s not dwell.

You’ll venture into story realms, solve puzzles, gather glimmering crystal fragments, and meet peculiar folks with mysteries of their own. All while the library creaks and watches. (She’s very sentimental.)

It's cozy, it's curious, it's just a touch haunted. But it’s our home, and it’s worth saving.

So ready your satchel, steady your heart, and do try not to knock over the ink pots. This is Fractured Library, after all.

Fractured Library is a 2D pixel art narrative game where you play as Kayak, a perfectly average human (with no interest in this nonsense, thank you very much.) who stumbles into an enchanted forest and gets very, very lost.

When a freak storm leads her to a mysterious library in disrepair, Kayak finds herself caught in a tangle of broken magic, scattered stories, and a witch librarian in desperate need of a helping hand.

Explore magical book worlds, solve narrative puzzles, and recover fragments of a shattered crystal that is the only thing keeping the parallel realms from collapsing into one another.

Along the way, you’ll help a lonely yeti, uncover the truth behind a ballroom theft, brew potions in a crumbling wizard tower, and navigate the strange rules of a sentient library overrun with chaotic magic.

With a blend of whimsy, warmth, and a hint of melancholy, Fractured Library invites you to uncover forgotten stories, restore a fractured world, and maybe even find your way home with a little more warmth in your heart.

Fractured Library is a narrative puzzle adventure with cozy exploration, light quest mechanics, and storybook-style progression. It’s designed for players who love strong characters, magical settings, and solving problems with heart, not combat.

As Kayak, you’ll explore a series of enchanted “book worlds,” each with a unique environment, cast of characters, and narrative mystery to solve. To restore the broken library crystal and return home, you’ll need to:

  • Solve narrative puzzles, uncover secrets, follow clues, and help strange new friends with problems only you seem to notice.

  • Explore magical realms, from a snowbound goblin village to a regency-style ballroom mystery; each book world is a self-contained story with its own tone and challenges.

  • Complete cozy quests, return overdue books, find missing items, trade with quirky NPCs, and solve logic-light puzzles that move the story forward.

  • Restore the Library. Every crystal fragment you return repairs part of the crumbling library, revealing more of its secrets, and Hazel’s.

  • Choose what kind of hero you are. Make small but meaningful choices: Will you tell the truth? Soften the blow? Should you throw someone under the bus to get what you need? It’s not about morality, it’s about personality.

There’s no combat, no time limits, and no stress-inducing difficulty spikes: just immersive exploration, memorable characters, and a world worth getting lost in.
