What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Spheromania is a fast-paced arena shooter where movement, energy management, and chaotic physics interactions are the heart of the experience. Because the game heavily depends on balance, feel, and community-driven iteration, Early Access gives me the ability to fine-tune the gameplay with real player feedback.

The core systems energy-as-health, momentum-based movement, AI personalities, and shrinking arena mechanics are deeply interconnected. Early Access helps ensure these systems evolve in the right direction before expanding the game with additional content.
I want to build this together with the players who enjoy quick, competitive, physics-based arena games and want to influence how the arenas, abilities, modes, and progression take shape.

Early Access is also a commitment: continuous updates, frequent balancing passes, new features, and a transparent development process. The game will grow with the community’s input.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current plan is 6-12 months of Early Access.

This timeline provides enough room for:
• meaningful player feedback
• balancing the combat and energy system
• adding new arenas, AI drones, upgrades, and multiplayer features
• refining performance and UI based on community testing”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to include more content, more modes, more arenas, and deeper gameplay systems than the Early Access release.

Planned additions include:

- Additional Arenas
• New biome themes
• Hazard arenas (moving obstacles, traps, environmental dangers)
• Vertical arenas with jumps, boosters, and risky shortcuts

- More AI Drones & Personalities
• Behavior variety (aggressive, evasive, chaotic, “sniper-like”)
• Skill-based escalation in difficulty

- Progression & Unlocks
• Cosmetic unlocks
• Drone skins
• Special particle effects
• Optional challenges and milestones

- Expanded Multiplayer
• More match types (e.g. Team Death Match)
• Small team modes (e.g. Battle Royale Duo)
• Possibly ranked or seasonal scoreboards

- Improved polish
• Better visual effects
• Additional music & SFX variations
• UI/UX refinements
• Accessibility options”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At the start of Early Access, Spheromania includes:

- Playable Modes
• Last Sphere Standing (Solo Battle Royale)
• Offline single-player vs 8 AI drones

- AI Opponents
• Eight unique AI personalities with different movement and attack styles

- Core Mechanics
• Momentum-based movement
• Hopping mechanic
• Shooting & energy weapons
• Mine traps
• Energy = health system
• Shrinking arena zone

- Arena
• One polished neon arena with dynamic shrinking behavior
• Multiple planned variations coming during Early Access

- Controls
• Controller support
• Keyboard support

- Stability
• Fully playable, optimized for short 3-minute matches
• Active balancing and regular updates planned

Players can already enjoy the full core loop: bounce, blast, dodge, survive, and outlast your opponents in an intense neon arena.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes.
The Early Access version will be offered at a lower introductory price, as a thank-you to early supporters who help shape the game.
As new content, modes, and features are added, the price will increase toward the final release.

This approach rewards early players for joining development early and giving feedback while still feeling fair for future buyers.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community involvement is a core part of Spheromania’s Early Access plan.

- Player Feedback Channels
• Steam Discussions
• In-game feedback option (planned)
• Discord server
• Occasional polls & surveys
• Social media updates & patch notes

- How Players Can Influence Development
• Vote on new arena ideas
• Suggest new drone personalities/abilities
• Help balance movement, energy costs, and weapons
• Report bugs and performance issues
• Participate in multiplayer playtests
• Provide UI/UX feedback

- Update Frequency
• Small updates: every 2–4 weeks
• Larger content drops: every 1–2 months
• Community polls before major changes

Spheromania is meant to grow with its players, and Early Access is the best way to build something fun, polished, and replayable together.”

About This Game

Spheromania is a third person drone arena shooter where every move costs you energy and your energy is also your health. Glide, bump, shoot, and lay traps as you fight to be the last sphere hovering. The arena shrinks over time, forcing faster fights and bolder plays.

Face off against 8 color-coded AI drones in a single-player free-for-all. Each match is a quick burst of chaos where smart energy management, sharp aim, and well-timed jumps can turn the tide.

Team up with up to 4 friends and play Team Death Match against 5 enemies in an online multiplayer arena.

Features

  • Last Sphere Standing: One arena, one life - eliminate all rivals to win.

  • Energy Is Everything: Use it to survive hits and to power your abilities.

  • Trick Moves: Drop mines, hop over danger, ram enemies off course.

  • Shrinking Arena: Get uncomfortably close to your enemies inside the play zone.

  • Distinct AI Personalities: Eight enemy drones each with its own tactics.

  • Quick Matches: 5 minutes of intense, replayable combat.

  • Playable With Controller or Keyboard.

  • Online Multiplayer: Free-for-all, team deathmatch, and special event modes.

  • More Arenas & Hazards: Moving platforms, destructible cover, and dynamic map shapes.

  • Expanded Drone Customization: Skins, trails, and victory effects.

  • New Abilities: Experiment with loadouts to match your playstyle.
