Populus is a low-fantasy colony sim where you don’t control your subjects directly. You set the rules, choose priorities, and build the conditions they live under. Your people act on their own, shaping the settlement with their choices.

Build industries, trade with the homeland, and expand your foothold in a land full of untapped resources and new opportunities. Every decision, taxes, policies, religion, military force, reshapes your growing society, influencing how people live, worship, and fight for their beliefs.

  • Indirect control: Issue orders and policies, let subjects act on their own judgment and needs.

  • Evolving society: Demographics, races, and religions shift into classes, factions, and tensions.

  • Social fractures: Prejudice, racial tensions, and unequal treatment shape how communities form, clash, and endure.

  • Dynamic economy: Careers, production chains, and grid-based building fueling your colony’s growth.

  • Faith and ideology: Competing religions spread through incentives and belief, each with unique bonuses.
