What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access will give us the opportunity make Wunder: The Double-Sided Deckbuilder a better game. It gives us the extra time needed to take player feedback into account and expand the game in the direction that serves it best. Whilst we have a lot of experience making games, this is our first roguelike and first deckbuilder, with both genres being notoriously difficult to balance. We want Wunder to be one of the best you'll ever play.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The amount we still want to add should take between 6 - 12 months. This could be extended to take player feedback or new ideas into account.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The plan is to at least triple the amount of content in the game; that means more decks, coins, talismans, etc. It should also include new events / alternate rivers to explore, difficulties and challenge modes.

The plan is to share roadmaps and progress updates through discord and patch notes.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version will launch as a fully playable game where you can expect:

- 6 starting decks to choose from, each with their own talent.
- 5 rivers to journey through culminating in the endless mode, Asphodel.
- 25+ Coins with their own mechanics
- 15+ Talismans that provide passive buffs

Unlocking everything will require beating the game's many challenges.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will increase a small amount when leaving Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want to incorporate as much player feedback into the game as possible: This means everything from bug reports to new content ideas. Whilst we hold a strong vision for the game, it's important to make sure the challenge level is appropriate and fun.

Feedback will be collected from the Steam forums and discord server accessible from the store page.”

About This Game

A roguelike deckbuilder, about flipping coins to cross the Rivers of Hades.

Every "card" is a coin that can land heads or tails (usually), granting an afterlife... or a swift end in the dark waters.

Let's Play a Game of Wunder!

Inspired by Balatro & Slay the Spire, you collect coins and flip them in battles of chance against the Ferryman.

You play by drawing 7 coins from your deck, rearranging and then flipping them all at once. With strategic planning and more than a little luck, they can trigger & reflip each other; destroying the target score, if not... well, what goes up must come down.

Features

  • Journey through the Rivers of the Underworld, from Styx to Phlegethon; each river will test you in different ways. Cross to the other side and try your luck in the endless mode, Asphodel.

  • Build a strategy using unique Coins and Talismans. All the Coins are based on figures throughout Greek mythology, each with their own unique risk / reward mechanics that can synergise or disrupt each other.

  • Upgrade the heads, tails or both sides of each coin in order to create a balanced deck, or put everything on one coin and pray to the gods that it lands heads and breaks the game.

  • Many decks in the form of different classes, each with their own game-changing abilities.
