What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Glitch and Glory: Tales of Honeywood began as a hobby project by a lone enthusiast, inspired by MMORPG satire and absurd fantasy humor. Over the course of development, I’ve built a world brimming with ridiculous quests and quirky NPCs, but I’ve realized true success needs your input! Early Access is our chance to polish the humor, refine mechanics, and make Honeywood a place where every player laughs at the absurdity of MMO-fantasy tropes. I want to know what you love about parody RPGs and work together to turn this project into something truly epic!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Honeywood is a living world, like an endless D&D campaign that keeps growing! There’s no fixed timeline for leaving Early Access, as I want to expand the game with new locations, characters, and absurd quests based on your ideas. My goal is to make Glitch and Glory a place where humor and adventure never run dry. Depending on community feedback and the scope of updates, Early Access could last from six months to a year or more, until we’ve crafted something truly legendary together!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I envision the full version of Glitch and Glory: Tales of Honeywood as a potentially more absurd and vibrant experience! I’m exploring the possibility of expanding Honeywood with new locations, charismatic NPCs, and satirical quests that could bring laughter and nods to the old school game dev journey... I hope to experiment with mechanics such as card-based mini-games, fishing, crafting, building your own house, or quirky interactions, all while keeping the parody spirit alive... I hope I can do it. Your feedback may inspire ideas to make Honeywood even wilder and more enjoyable!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Glitch and Glory: Tales of Honeywood in Early Access already delivers a full-fledged parody RPG experience! Explore Honeywood, chat with sarcastic NPCs, make impactful dialogue choices, trade, and battle. Core quests and mechanics are functional, though some tasks are still being expanded to become even more absurd and engaging. I’m actively developing the game, adding new quest branches and polishing existing ones to let you dive deeper into this chaotic world!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Right now, I’m focused on crafting the best Glitch and Glory experience, not on price tags. The Early Access price reflects the current content, and I aim to keep it affordable for everyone joining the adventure. As new quests, mechanics, and locations are added, the price may gradually increase, but I’ll ensure any changes are fair and based on your feedback. Honestly, I have no clue how much to charge—I’m a leatherworker, sysadmin, builder, archaeologist, and more, but not a game dev by trade. I’ll probably ask a neural network for advice later!”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is the heart of Glitch and Glory! I’m launching in Early Access to make Honeywood funnier and crazier with your help. Join our Discord, share ideas, suggest quests, roast my mistakes—I need your feedback! Your input will shape new locations, characters, and absurd mechanics. The most active players might leave their mark in Honeywood—think an epic epitaph or even a named crypt with a couple of cheeky goblins. Let’s create this absurdity together!”

About This Game

About This Game

Glitch and Glory: Tales of Honeywood is a hilarious parody of classic MMORPGs, inspired by the humor of Epic NPC Man from Viva La Dirt League and the absurdity of classic fantasy. Dive into the ridiculous world of Honeywood, where you, a hapless adventurer, tackle absurd quests, battle NPC bureaucracy, and try not to mess everything up. Save sheep, fight spiders (or puppies?), negotiate with ghosts, and dodge fines from the Order of Paladins of Alderkeep. Expect sarcastic dialogue, unexpected twists, and a ton of nods to MMO culture.

Venture into the village of Honeywood, where every resident—from garlic farmer Greg to pompous wizard Baradun—is ready to throw a bizarre task your way. Read (or skip) instructions, choose between an axe or a broom, and try not to become the town’s laughingstock. Can you survive this chaotic world where even a chicken can get you in trouble with the whole village?

Key Features:

  • MMORPG Parody: Satire on quests, NPCs, and gaming clichés packed with humor.

  • Choices with Consequences: Your decisions impact reputation and outcomes.

  • Absurd Characters: Meet the bureaucratic Quartermaster, philosophical gravediggers, and enigmatic Priestess.

  • In-Game Achievements: Earn rewards for persistence (or sheer stupidity).

  • Retro Style: Classic pixel art and dialogue in the spirit of RPG Maker MZ.

  • References and Easter Eggs: Nods to famous fantasy novels, MMORPGs, and other iconic games and worlds.

If you’re ready to laugh at yourself and the absurdity of MMORPGs, Glitch and Glory is your ticket to an absurd adventure!

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

"Glitch and Glory: Tales of Honeywood" includes light stylized violence (battles with NPC and monsters in pixel art style), as well as mentions of alcohol consumption and smoking. The game does not contain sexual content, detailed graphic violence, sexual violence, drug abuse, or self-harm. Some quests may feature sarcastic humor that might not suit all players. The content may evolve based on community feedback.

Note from the developer: I’m making a good old fantasy game, not what you might have thought!
