About This Demo

An order of outcast mages, exiled for their atrocities and living alone in the wilderness, once pursued a powerful secret that threatens to upend the balance of power across the content. Now they're being murdered, and one must venture across the mainland - exploring ancient ruins and mysterious realms - to uncover the terrible truth they left behind.

• A smaller, fully open-world demo: Go where you want, when you want. As a smaller, self-contained version of the main game, the Hermit demo is itself a fully open world with places to go, people to meet, and things to do

• Explore the city: Explore a self-contained version of the walled city of Gravenstaad (one of the main game's mid-sized towns) and the surrounding area in this demo that is entirely separate from the main game world

• Uncover new spells as you venture out into the world in search of Hermit knowledge

• Get right into the action in the demo main quest, and discover Hermit lore as you set out on a short journey to locate a Hermit in the area and uncover their secrets.

• Preview the style of gameplay before the full game release in this short game demo

• No fetch quests, no micro-transactions, no early access, and no always-online requirements

Hermit is an Open World Action RPG set in a vast medieval fantasy world.

• Explore deep dungeons, caves, catacombs, forests, and mountains as you travel the continent visiting new biomes, doing quests, and uncovering the secrets of the Order of Hermits.

  Choose your own approach to gameplay. Quests and character progression can often be completed in multiple ways. Progression paths are flexible and often offer multiple solutions.

  Exploration, Crafting, Gathering, Trading, Combat & Magic are all deeply interwoven mechanics. Resources are scattered throughout the world and can be obtained in different ways, encouraging you to venture out and explore. Collect important resources such as ancient artifacts, herbs and spices, toxins, metals, and more.

   

  • Dynamic World: Time of day, weather, and seasons all affect gameplay. Harvest in-season crops or leverage the current weather to make your spells more powerful.

  • Choose your Combat Style: Enemies have different vulnerabilities and weapons have different strengths. Target damage types against your foes’ weaknesses, or deal less-specific damage and leverage bleeding, fractures, or toxins instead. Some melee weapons can be rotated in the hand to immediately change damage types during combat.

  • Craft, Trade, or Scavenge: Items can be obtained in different ways. Craft your equipment yourself, buy it, find it, or take it by force.

  • Fight, Shoot, and Cast Spells: Weapon classes feel and behave differently; Parry, Dodge,or Block more effectively depending on your choices. Light up dark dungeons by throwing torches or cast spells instead.

  • Choose your own path: Quests, challenges, and puzzles often have multiple solutions that can be achieved through different mechanics. Traders and quest-givers react to your choices, affecting the world around you.
    
    

    
    Forge your own path—from humble peasant to legendary warrior or Hermit. Customize your character’s look, upgrade your home, and shape the world through your actions. Whether you prefer crafting, combat, or exploration, your journey is yours to define. Diverse weapon types, potions, and spells pave the way for different play styles and experiences. Meaningfully change the world around you as your actions unlock new paths and playstyles.

    • Armor Up: Collect, craft, or trade for gear. Mix and match armor sets and outfits to suit your playstyle and look.

    • Upgrade your Home: Craft and deploy home upgrades to improve its storage and capabilities or to customize its appearance.

    • Impact the World: Your choices meaningfully impact the world around you. Sell goods to traders who then use those resources to upgrade their shops, unlocking new items and gear.

    • Your Furry Companion: Accessorize your donkey, who follows you throughout the game to help you carry your burdens (literally) and survive the wilds
      
      

      
      Hermit is a passion project created by a solo developer. The world is packed with one-off tailored quests, experiences, locations, and content. Nothing in the game is procedurally generated or made with AI.

      • Take on the main quest or carve your own legend as you go out on your own to pursue other quests in the world.

      • Battle monsters in dungeons, caves, and cursed ruins. Uncover secrets hidden in ancient places, blocked paths, and ancient artifacts.

      • Help villages fight off threats, solve local problems, or forge alliances that ripple across the world.
