What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We chose Early Access because Dawn of Piracy is built around player freedom and sandbox systems. That kind of design benefits greatly from real player feedback.

Core gameplay mechanics like sailing, naval combat, land combat, trade, and exploration is already playable and functional. Early Access gives us the opportunity to expand the world, refine balance, and deepen systems based on how players actually engage with the game.

Our goal is not to rebuild the foundation during Early Access, but to grow it by expanding the Caribbean, adding new story content, and improving existing mechanics with community input.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Dawn of Piracy to remain in Early Access for up to one year. This timeframe allows us to expand the world toward our full vision while responding to player feedback along the way.

That said, development timelines can evolve depending on community feedback and the scope of improvements we choose to pursue.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to expand the Caribbean world to its complete 13-island scope, continue the main storyline beyond Act 1, introduce additional gameplay mechanics, and deepen systems such as faction interaction, world activities, and character variety.

Our focus during Early Access is on meaningful expansion and adding breadth and depth to the sandbox while polishing and balancing the experience”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version launches with all core gameplay systems implemented, including sailing, naval combat, land combat, trade, progression, and open exploration.

At launch, players can explore 10+ islands, experience Act 1 of the main storyline, and engage in 30+ dynamic quests and activities. The sandbox experience is fully playable, with freedom to follow the main story or focus entirely on open-ended play.

While the foundation is complete, systems will continue to be refined and expanded during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access version will be offered at a slightly lower price compared to the full 1.0 release.

As additional content, islands, story acts, and features are added throughout development, the price may increase modestly to reflect the expanded scope of the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback plays a major role in shaping Dawn of Piracy.

We are active on our Discord server, where players can share feedback, report issues, and discuss ideas directly with the team. Throughout Early Access, we’ll monitor player experiences closely and use that feedback to refine balance, improve systems, and prioritize future content updates.

The sandbox nature of the game makes community input especially valuable, and we plan to grow the game alongside our players.”

About This Game

The Caribbean is open to you

Dawn of Piracy plunges you into the heart of the Golden Age of Piracy. Prepare to command your own ship, recruit a fearless crew, and navigate the treacherous waters of the Caribbean in pursuit of glory and treasure. Engage in thrilling naval battles, explore mysterious islands brimming with secrets, and challenge the most powerful empires. Customize your vessel, enhance your combat and negotiation skills, and decide whether you'll be a feared privateer, a cunning merchant, or a legendary explorer.

Dawn of Piracy is a sandbox pirate-themed RPG inspired by the spirit of games like the classic Sea Dogs. It's a modern single-player game set in the 17th-century Caribbean. The game focuses on open exploration, naval warfare, trade, piracy, and building your own path at sea.

Choose your captain — start your journey as Henry, a male pirate, or Abigail, a female pirate — and write your own legend.

You start with a ship and a crew, but what you do with them is entirely up to you.

Sail the vast seas, trade between rival ports, hunt enemy vessels as a privateer, raid shipping lanes as a pirate, and carve your own reputation in a world shaped by ambition and power.

Choose your allegiance from four playable nations — with Portugal and Prussia coming in future updates — or sail under the black flag as a pirate. Meet characters throughout the Caribbean, forge alliances, and foster rivalries.

Sail without limits

Navigate between islands, contested waters, and rival powers in a Caribbean filled with competing empires.

The main story is there to be followed, but you can set it aside and build your reputation through trade, piracy, or privateering if you want to.

Naval Combat & Boarding

Engage in dynamic tactical naval combat where varying factors like your positioning, firepower, and preparation can determine your fate as you master the winds, unleash broadsides, cripple enemy vessels, and take the fight to their decks.

Varying weather conditions and changing environments are a big influence on the outcomes of sea encounters.

Enemy ships aren't just generic obstacles, as they can be disabled, boarded, and claimed as prizes if you're prepared to take the risk.

Step Ashore

Ports are more than safe harbors and aren't just places to resupply.

These dynamic places are where you can stumble upon various characters, trade goods, expand your knowledge, and sometimes where you may walk into danger.

Forge relationships, discover quests, and decide how you want to be known throughout the Caribbean, as you explore different cultures, settlements, coastal villages, hidden caves, and fortified strongholds.

The Caribbean does not stand still, nor should you.

Shape your legacy

As you progress, you'll command vessels across six classes of historically accurate ships from the smallest vessels to the mightiest warships. Upgrade your skills, and gradually expand your influence across the seas.

Different ship classes handle and fight differently. Pick your ship from lighter, faster vessels to heavier warships built for sustained engagements and dominance.

Will you be feared, respected, or simply wealthy and successful? The Caribbean will give you the space to decide.

The sea doesn't grant power, but rewards those bold enough to seize it.
