What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Back to Ground Zero is an evolving project. Early Access allows me to expand the game with players feedback, add more features and content. Together, we can build something truly unique and terrifying.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Back to Ground Zero will stay in Early Access until it reaches a full and stable version, which I estimate will take about 2 to 3 years. This time will allow for continuous updates, deeper content, community-driven improvements, and full mod support. The game’s world is massive, and I want to give it the time it needs to grow into a true horror experience.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add more features and content throughout Early Access, including mod support, additional entities and locations, new gameplay elements, potential multiplayer functionality, performance improvements, and expanded language support.

Our goal is to deliver a deeper and more polished horror experience by listening closely to community feedback and evolving the game together over time.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Back to Ground Zero is fully playable and includes the core gameplay systems, one location, horror mechanics, and the foundation of its main features.

It already offers an immersive experience, but it’s still early in development. Features like mod support, multiplayer, and additional entities or locations are not yet implemented.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price will gradually increase as new content, features, and improvements are added throughout Early Access. Early supporters will get the game at a lower price while helping shape its development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is at the heart of Back to Ground Zero’s development. I’ll be actively listening to players on Steam, Discord, and Reddit to improve the game, fix issues, and shape future content. From gameplay tweaks to new locations and features, the community will play a major role—especially with planned mod support that will open the door for player-created content.”

About This Game

BTGZ:FC is a sci-fi horror game where you control an advanced well equipped remote-controlled drone sent to explore a dangerous, unknown dimension. Navigate a vast, pitch-black network of tunnels using specialized tools and devices engineered specifically for the drone. Rely on transmitter antennas to maintain connection, gather data, and survive encounters with hostile entities. Stay alert and avoid deadly anomalies, radiations, and environmental threats as you uncover the secrets hidden deep within this strange world.

In 2001, a catastrophic experiment conducted by C.E.R.N tore open a dimensional breach, creating a portal to an endless network of tunnels filled with radiation, anomalies, and dangerous entities.

Shocked by their discovery, C.E.R.N quickly secured governmental funding and founded O.M.E.N — a specialized operations team trained to security, construction, and containment.

However, the mission soon turned into disaster. The O.M.E.N team suffered heavy losses due to extreme radiation exposure, unpredictable anomalies, and violent encounters with hostile entities. Eventually, C.E.R.N was forced to shut down the operation and cancel the project entirely.

Years later, the portal has been reopened by a former top O.M.E.N operatives. Manned exploration is no longer an option.

Instead, an advanced, well-equipped remote-controlled drone is sent deep into the tunnels to recover samples, extract spectral energy, and gather any available data.

What was once a research mission has become something far more dangerous… and far more important.

The game includes a wide range of features. In this dangerous dimension, the drone must complete its mission: explore, gather data, and survive in a hostile world. To succeed, it relies on a variety of specialized tools and devices. One of them is:

Locator Device: a tool created by O.M.E.N. with two main functions:

  • Scanner application: Upload or capture transmissions floating in the ether, such as images, videos, audio, or text files.
Captured transmissions are saved to your data log, allowing you to review them at any time: Listen to audio, watch videos, view images, or read discovered text files.

  • Scanner settings application: Detect specific items in the levels by selecting their material properties. You can filter by a single parameter or combine multiple ones to isolate a specific item.

Additionally, the Locator Device can interface with map devices. This allows certain entities or items to appear on your scanner and be marked directly on your map.
