About This Game

Fate cannot be exchanged—can you accept yourself?

At the end of the twentieth century, in a women’s dormitory in southern China, the destinies of five girls are quietly rewritten by a mysterious “soul exchange” ritual.

You will take on the role of one of them, step into their dorm room, touch forgotten belongings, and rewind old memories and voices in a dim, dreamlike space.

Every item is connected to a scar they cannot touch—some long to escape control, others try to please the world to gain acceptance. They struggle and suppress themselves, their fates slowly entangling in silence.

Their stories are closely intertwined with yours. Will you choose to escape, or will you learn to accept?

Multi-layered Structure: Behavior as Narrative

You will explore a women’s dormitory in first-person perspective, gradually piecing together the emotional fragments and destinies of five girls by observing, matching, and touching their personal belongings.

As emotional connections are quietly established, you will be guided into each girl’s “consciousness space”—an abstract world blending Chinese Five Elements philosophy and psychological symbolism—where you will personally experience their struggles and wounds.

You will constantly shuttle between the “dormitory” and the “consciousness spaces,” confronting the deep sources of emotion in a cycle of repetition, drawing closer to the truth of fate.

When all memories surface, the story will lead you to a crossroads of “self.” Who are you? What will you choose?

The game constructs a path of emotional and fateful experience through a series of symbolic interactions:

  • Shattering the Mirror — Smash illusions and face the repressed true self.

  • Igniting the Puppet — Set anger ablaze and release the silent struggle.

Step Into Their World—With Your Body

Echo of Spring is a VR experience that emphasizes embodied interaction, requiring players to use physical actions to connect with the characters’ destinies.

In the game, you are not just observing the story—you enter the characters’ inner worlds through real movements.

We have designed a variety of interactive actions to make the transmission of emotion more natural and immersive:

  • Tossing a Coin to Make a Wish — Make a wish and awaken the echoes of fate.

  • Kneeling Before a Deity — Kneel in silence, feeling the heavy burden of intertwined faith and repression.

In Echo of Spring, you don’t control the character—you become the character, using your body to understand their circumstances and your actions to respond to their silent emotions.

Here, virtual reality is not just “entering a space,” but using your body to resonate and empathize with them.

Dreamcore Aesthetics, Memories You Can Touch

The visual style of Echo of Spring is deeply inspired by “Chinese dreamcore” aesthetics, creating an emotional space that is both familiar and alien within the collective memories of the late twentieth century.

From weathered wooden furniture, yellowed old posters, and vintage tape players, to the metaphor-laden light and shadow in the Five Elements consciousness spaces, every scene carries their memories and repression.

We use Eastern visual language to depict the emotional tension and identity struggles of youth, making space a part of the narrative and letting the visuals evoke inner resonance.

Retro is not just a style—it is an entryway to awaken emotional and cultural memory.

Female Perspective, East Asian Memory

  • Embodied actions drive emotional narrative: Build connections with the characters’ destinies through real physical movements, allowing silent emotions to surface naturally.

  • Fusion of Chinese Five Elements philosophy and psychological symbolism: The destinies of the five characters correspond to Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth, constructing unique cultural metaphors and clues of fate.

  • Dreamcore art reconstructs the collective memory of late twentieth-century East Asia: Restore the atmosphere buried by time through details, evoking a familiar yet blurry emotional resonance.

  • Linear space + nonlinear narrative structure: Guide players to gradually approach the core of fate through the multi-layered cycle between “dormitory” and “consciousness spaces.”
