What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I'm releasing The Coffin of Sarah in Early Access to give players the opportunity to experience the story as it develops chapter by chapter. This approach allows me to gather feedback on gameplay, pacing, and narrative elements directly from the community. Early Access gives me the flexibility to refine mechanics, add meaningful content, and improve the experience based on what players enjoy (or don't enjoy).

Because the game is heavily story-driven, releasing each chapter as it nears completion helps ensure that the final product is shaped by those who play it.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I am planning on having the game out of early access within 10-12 months depending on how development goes.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of The Coffin of Sarah is planned to include all chapters of the story, expanded areas, additional puzzles, more detailed environmental storytelling, and multiple possible endings based on the player’s choices throughout the game.

While Early Access versions will focus on delivering the core story and atmosphere for each chapter, the full release will refine and expand on that foundation with improved polish, optional side content, secrets, and quality-of-life improvements based on community feedback.

The final version is also expected to offer a more cohesive overall experience, with narrative threads tied together across chapters, and additional sound design, animations, and visual effects where needed to enhance immersion.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version currently includes Chapter One, featuring the full playable environment, core story events, and several interactable objects that help establish the world and tone of The Coffin of Sarah. While the chapter is fully explorable, it is still in active development — with updates planned to add more detailed interactions, puzzles, and environmental storytelling.

Gameplay systems such as dialogue, exploration, and early branching choices are already implemented. Visual design elements like map tiles, trees, and other environment art are in an early state and will be improved over time to better reflect the atmosphere and tone of later chapters. Some assets, sounds, and UI may be placeholder or subject to change as development progresses.

Players can expect a stable, playable experience that reflects the direction of the game — with more polish, visual upgrades, and content planned as development continues.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game may see a small price increase when it leaves Early Access, depending on the amount of content added and the overall reception. The goal is to keep the game fairly priced based on its scope and player feedback. Any pricing changes will be communicated ahead of time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play a big role in shaping The Coffin of Sarah. I plan to involve players by listening closely to what they enjoy (and don’t enjoy) in each chapter including story pacing, puzzle design, dialogue, and overall atmosphere. Suggestions, bug reports, and ideas shared through Steam discussions or Discord Server will directly influence future updates and chapters.

Because this is a solo-developed project, community involvement is not only appreciated it’s essential. I want players to feel like their voice helps shape the direction of the game as it evolves.”

About This Game

You wake up as Sarah in an old, run-down cabin deep in the woods — bloodstains everywhere, and a chilling silence that screams danger. Trapped and desperate, you must escape before whoever brought you here returns.

As you explore this eerie rural town, you’ll meet the locals. But beware: not everyone is what they seem. Whispers hint at a dark past—something buried beneath the surface of this quiet community.

Look closely for clues scattered throughout the environment. Uncover secrets that reveal the twisted nature of the town’s inhabitants and the lurking monsters that roam the woods.

Can you piece together the truth and survive what lies ahead… or will you become just another lost soul?

The Coffin of Sarah will be released in a chapter-based format. Currently, Chapter One is still in development, but it already includes the full playable area. More interactable objects will be added to foreshadow what’s to come in Sarah’s journey.

The story is planned to span five to six chapters in total. As the chapters progress, both their length and complexity will increase. My goal is for the complete game to offer approximately 4–6 hours of playtime, with each chapter including a few key choices that influence which ending the player will receive.

I’m aiming to release each chapter every 2–4 months, depending on progress. Once a chapter contains the main story content and map layout, it will be released in Early Access, with core events implemented but fewer side puzzles and secrets initially included. Achievements will be added in near the end of the development.

The release approach may evolve based on community feedback, so please feel free to share your thoughts — your likes, dislikes, and suggestions all help shape The Coffin of Sarah!
