About This Content

The war is over.

Ten thousand years of it.

Gods died. Civilizations fell. Entire realms were changed forever.

What's left is yours.

Ashes of Arcanum is a narrative-focused tabletop RPG built for telling your own stories in the remains of Ardron.

There is no chosen hero waiting for you to play them.

Make your own.

Choose your species, class, history, skills, and abilities, then build them into whoever you want them to become.

Want to spend hours building some horrifying mechanical abomination capable of deleting a creature from existence?

Go for it.

Want to put all your stats at 10, pick whatever sounds cool, and hit things?

That works too.

The system is built to support both.

---

Your Story

AoA is built for long-form adventures, but it doesn't particularly care what an "adventure" looks like.

Travel across the world.

Stay in one town.

Fight monsters.

Solve problems.

Cause problems.

Roll for everything.

Roleplay everything.

Do both.

The rules are there when you need them and meant to get the hell out of your way when you don't.

There isn't one correct way to play.

It's your table.

---

Roll The Dice

You've got seven of the little bastards.

We're using them.

AoA uses the entire standard polyhedral set, from the humble d4 to the mighty d20.

Different dice serve different purposes throughout the system, with criticals and other mechanics changing how familiar rolls behave.

If you like rolling dice?

Good news.

If you don't?

Why are you playing a western tabletop RPG?

---

Characters are meant to actually feel different.

Classes aren't slightly rearranged collections of the same abilities. Species aren't names attached to minor stat changes.

Your choices change what your character can actually do.

Mix that with histories, skill trees, upgrades, spells, equipment, and whatever terrible idea you came to the table with.

Build the character you want.

If it's stupid but it works?

It works.

Hi. 👋

I know.

You've got twelve tabs open.

One is a map.

One is music.

Three are rules.

Four haven't been touched since session two.

One is inexplicably using 4GB of RAM.

And somewhere, buried beneath all of them, is the thing you actually needed.

AoA includes tools for running the game directly inside the virtual tabletop: maps, encounters, creatures, loot, NPCs, music, and the other usual suspects.

Use what you need.

Ignore what you don't.

And if something gets in the way of your game?

Trash it.

---

It's your turn now.

Ardron has already had its heroes.

It's had its villains.

It's had gods, wars, catastrophes, victories, mistakes, and ten thousand years of people making decisions they were absolutely certain were a good idea at the time.

Now there are only the ashes.

What happens next?

That's up to you.

Put your fate in your hands.

Take a chance. Roll the die. 🎲
