What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Rise of the Dark Tower is a systems-driven roguelite where balance, replayability, and player skill are key. We aim to use Early Access as a way to fine-tune the game based on real player experiences. By involving the community early, we plan to iterate on mechanics, improve progression, and introduce new content in a way that reflects what players actually want. Our goal is for Rise of the Dark Tower to be more than just challenging—it should feel fair, deep, and rewarding. Early Access is the best path to achieving that vision.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to remain in Early Access until October 2025. This timeline gives us room to expand content, polish mechanics, and integrate player feedback into all aspects of the experience. Our goal is to release version 1.0 as a well-rounded, content-rich roguelite that has been meaningfully shaped by the community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Rise of the Dark Tower is planned to include significantly more content, deeper systems, and a fully fleshed-out endgame. While Early Access focuses on establishing the core loop—combat, progression, and early Tower levels—we aim to expand on that with additional bosses, enemies, floors, abilities, and more. The complete version is intended to build on a solid foundation and deliver a richer, more complete experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version includes the first few floors of the Tower, featuring a variety of enemies, traps, and randomized loot. Players can explore different room types, experiment with the core mechanics, and develop distinct combat styles using the initial selection of relics and skills.

We’ve also introduced the game’s first major boss fight, designed to serve as both a milestone and a glimpse into the difficulty curve ahead. While the core systems—combat, exploration, loot, and progression—are in place, content remains limited, and we plan to continue adjusting balance based on player feedback.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We aim to keep Early Access free so that as many players as possible can try Rise of the Dark Tower, share feedback, and contribute to its growth. Once the game reaches version 1.0 and is fully developed, we plan to release it as a paid title. This model allows players to experience the core game risk-free during development, while supporting the final, polished version upon release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community involvement is central to how we plan to shape Rise of the Dark Tower during Early Access. As a roguelite, the game benefits greatly from iteration—balancing mechanics, refining progression, and evolving content. To do this effectively, we aim to center development around direct player feedback.

We plan to engage actively with the community through Steam discussions and social media, gathering input on everything from combat feel and item balance to enemy design and meta-progression. Devlogs and experimental branches are also in the works, so players can test upcoming features and help steer their direction.

Ultimately, we aim to build a roguelite that evolves alongside its community—one that’s not just fun to play, but also rewarding to grow with.”
