Was die Entwickler zu sagen haben:

Wozu Early Access?

„Mercyrail is being developed by one person. The full journey from Waterloo to Glasgow is already playable, including route planning, train building, passengers, supplies, scavenging, infection, side quests, bandit encounters, and narrative events.

These systems are closely connected. A small change to fuel use can alter route choices, while a change to passenger demand can affect carriage space, crew, food, and morale for the rest of a run. Early Access provides a much wider range of complete journeys than solo testing can. That feedback will be used to improve balance, explain difficult systems more clearly, and identify parts of the route that need more attention.

Development during Early Access will also add more station stories, passenger encounters, survivor encounters, side quests, event chains, accessibility options, and quality-of-life improvements.“

Wie lange wird dieses Spiel ungefähr den Early Access-Status haben?

„Early Access is planned to last approximately 12 months. This is an estimate rather than a fixed release date. The game will leave Early Access when the campaign content, balance, accessibility, performance, and platform support are ready for a full release.“

Wie soll sich die Vollversion von der Early Access-Version unterscheiden?

„The full version is planned to have more station situations and branching event chains across the Waterloo-to-Glasgow campaign, along with more passenger stories, survivor encounters, faction responses, and persistent consequences. Player feedback will guide further balancing of routing, scavenging, infection, resources, morale, and reputation.

Accessibility, onboarding, quality-of-life options, presentation, audio, performance, and stability will continue to improve. Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud support are also planned, along with completed controller-only and Steam Deck validation.

Priorities may change as feedback reveals which parts of the game need the most work.“

Was ist der derzeitige Stand der Early Access-Version?

„The main single-player campaign is playable from London Waterloo to Glasgow Central. You can configure the opening train, accept or refuse named passenger groups, recruit railway workers, manage supplies, travel through the connected rail network, scavenge with named crew, encounter survivors, take on side quests, deal with bandit crews, repair the train, treat sick passengers, respond to spreading infection, and make choices with lasting consequences. Runs can be saved and continued locally.

The campaign has a complete beginning and ending, but it is not yet content-complete or fully balanced. Major locations currently have more bespoke stories than many smaller stations. Onboarding, accessibility, controller support, performance, and Steam integration will also continue to improve during Early Access.“

Wird dieses Spiel während und nach Early Access unterschiedlich viel kosten?

„The price may increase when the game leaves Early Access if the finished game has grown significantly through new content, features, and improvements. Any change will be announced in advance.“

Wie werden Sie versuchen die Community in den Entwicklungsprozess miteinzubeziehen?

„Steam Discussions and the official Discord server will be the main places to report bugs, share feedback, and describe how a run played out. Development updates will explain what is changing and which parts of the game are currently being worked on.

Community feedback will help identify balance problems, unclear systems, accessibility needs, performance issues, and stations or routes that need more attention. Reports from complete runs will be especially useful because decisions made early in the journey can have consequences much later. Feedback will be considered alongside the direction and scope of the game rather than treated as a promise that every suggestion will be added.“

Infos zum Spiel

Britain collapsed about a year ago. The infection burned through London long before you got here, and what's left at Waterloo is a dark station with one loaded train in it. You're in charge of that train. It's called Mercyrail, it was paid for by a man who helped break the railway in the first place, and it's heading north to a rumoured survival colony called Haven. Nobody on board has seen it. It's a name passed along the wire, and the only place left that anyone still talks about as if it's there.

Everyone still alive at Waterloo is already on board. From here on the country is empty. Stations are dark, the broadcasts are on loops that outlived whoever recorded them, and the only new faces come from what your crew finds when they go looking. This isn't a commuter train... it's the last public service anyone has, and how you run it is up to you.

Run It All From One Terminal

You run the whole train from a CRT terminal: pick the route, read the dossiers, send the crew out and wait for their reports, all through one old screen that was only ever built to run a timetable.

Real UK Rail Network

Every station and every line comes from OpenStreetMap, about 2,600 stations and 2,800 connections, and you can go anywhere on it. The map reveals itself as you go. There's no set route north and you can take any route you like as long as you can keep the train moving. Lines get blocked by failed points, flooding, barricades and derailed stock. Clear them with fuel and spare parts, or take the slow way round.

Decide Who Gets a Place

Every seat is another mouth to feed and water the whole way north, and the more you take the faster the hold empties, so what leaves London is your call: a first class train for a few, a steerage train for everyone else, or a mix that has to live with itself for the rest of the journey. The people you turn away are remembered.

Keep the Train Running

Keep food, fuel, medicine, water and spare parts coming into one shared hold by scavenging at stations. Repair the train at depots. Treat the sick. Every abandoned carriage you couple on changes what the train burns to move, and every survivor you bring aboard is another mouth to feed.

Decide Who Gets Passage

At Waterloo, decide who your train carries: reserve it for those who can pay their way, or make room for everyone else who can't. From there, every new arrival comes from what your search parties find: a survivor worth a seat, or an abandoned carriage worth dragging home. Whichever way you build it, that's the community you're responsible for getting to Glasgow alive.

Send the Crew Out

Need more resources? Send a crew out to search the area. Reports come back in real time and you decide whether to push deeper for a bigger haul or bring them home before someone gets hurt. Go too far and people come back wounded, infected, or not at all. Sometimes they find survivors who need a seat, or an abandoned carriage worth coupling on. Crew get better the more they go out, which makes losing one hurt more.

Every Choice Matters

The story runs the whole length of the line, several arcs deep, and every choice you make in it matters. Who you help, who you turn away, what you pay and what you refuse. None of it is forgotten. The train that reaches Haven is the one you made.

Featuring Music by Voidforce

The soundtrack features darksynth and synthwave tracks by Voidforce, an electronic artist from Trondheim,

Norway known for cinematic, story-driven concept albums.

Offenlegung von KI-generierten Inhalten

Der Spieleentwickler beschreibt den Einsatz von KI-generierten Inhalten in diesem Spiel wie folgt:

Yes, this game has been built with AI.

As a software engineer for over 15 years, I wanted to see how far I could push AI to bring my idea to life. I built the initial prototype myself, but have used AI extensively to turn the prototype into a fully functional game that looks and feels the way I imagined. This is still months of work with over 50 hours of playtesting to bring it to life.

AI has come a long way, and game development is evolving fast. This game would never have left the prototype stage without it. Please consider giving it a chance.
