About This Demo

Demo Version of “Shoestrings Story,”
a point-and-click visual novel

  • In the demo version, you can enjoy the early part of the story—excluding the opening (Chapter 1).

    • Retro dot-art graphics

    • Dialogue scenes with a cast of quirky, unforgettable characters

    • A variety of mini-games seamlessly woven into the visual-novel segments

The protagonist is a freelance writer named Lovecatch. Due to childhood trauma, they are unable to speak and have no combat experience. However, after saving a wounded, mysterious creature known as a Mamono, they are unexpectedly chosen to become a "Hero." Lovecatch’s mission is to "persuade" an entity called the "Demon King," who is said to command the Mamono, and bring an end to the 900-year-long war against these creatures.

You can experience the opening section of the story in this demo.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

■In this work, AI-generated images are primarily used for character design and as reference sketches for the following characters:

Deeba
Buddy
City Official
Joslinbell’s wheelchair
The procedure is as follows:

Based on detailed world-building settings, prompts are created and input into Dall-E 3 to generate images multiple times.
A single output image—or a combination of several output images—is then used as a reference sketch to create pixel art.
In addition, except for some parts, the map background images are also generated by creating prompts from the world-building settings and inputting them into Dall-E 3. The resulting images are then used as reference sketches to produce pixel art.

By following this method, while we leverage AI-generated images, the final designs are all completed as pixel art by human hands.

■The English version is generated using machine translation.
