What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access gives us the opportunity to develop San Bernardino transparently alongside our players. Rather than offering an empty promise, the game is already fully playable today with two complete wave-defense modes (a 10-wave main mode and an endless Nightmare Mode).

Early adopters will benefit from continuous free content updates as we expand the game's scope. Our roadmap includes an upcoming update in late October or early November (adding a new level and weapon pack), followed by a full storyline, new levels, drivable vehicles, interior building exploration, and a much larger heavy metal-inspired soundtrack.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to keep the game in Early Access for approximately 14 to 16 months. As a solo developer, this timeline ensures there is enough time to properly build, polish, and test the multiplayer functionality, new levels, and storyline content based on player feedback. However, if development goes smoothly, we may transition to a full release sooner.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the content, mechanics, and overall scope of San Bernardino for the full version. Planned additions and improvements include: A full narrative story campaign. Additional levels and environments interior building exploration. An expanded, heavy metal-inspired original soundtrack. Additional weapons, enemy types, and ongoing gameplay balancing driven by player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version features a fully playable wave-defense survival loop inspired by classic 8-bit arcade machines. Players must defend against hordes of zombies and dinosaurs across two distinct game modes: the main mode, where the goal is to survive up to Wave 10, and a Nightmare Mode, which features endless waves to test how long a player can last. Additionally, the game features a fully custom soundtrack with original music specifically tailored to the gameplay.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Players who join us during Early Access will receive a reduced price as a thank-you for supporting San Bernardino’s early development. The price will increase moderately upon full release to reflect the expanded content, but it will remain within a reasonable standard price point and will not exceed that threshold.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is essential to shaping the future of San Bernardino. Even in Early Access, the game already offers a complete, fully enjoyable experience that stands on its own. While the core experience is solid and fully playable today, player feedback on gameplay balance, quality-of-life improvements, and bug fixes will directly influence our ongoing development priorities and content roadmap.

We will primarily engage with our community through our official Discord server and the Steam Community Hub. We plan to host regular feedback threads, post update roadmaps, and run periodic player surveys after major content updates.”

Early Access

A Note from the Developer: Hey everyone! Just a heads-up: I am a solo developer working hard to bring this vision to life. Every dollar raised from your purchases goes directly into speeding up development. Over the next few months, I will be rolling out consistent updates, including brand-new levels, expanded weapon packs, and greater variety for our zombies and dinosaurs. Thank you so much for backing an indie project—I can’t wait to build this alongside you!

About This Game

Welcome to your first night on the job for the San Bernardino Neighborhood Watch. What was supposed to be a quiet shift keeping the local peace turns into an absolute nightmare. A nearby, supposedly abandoned military base has accidentally loosed hordes of ancient dinosaurs and flesh-eating zombies right into the suburbs—and they are heading straight for your overpriced house. Neighborhood Watch: San Bernardino is a chaotic, fast-paced first-person shooter built in the spirit of classic 8-bit arcade wave defense. Grab your weapons, watch the corners, and prepare to hold the line.

You won't survive with harsh words alone. Eliminate incoming threats to rack up points, then use those points to purchase a variety of firearms scattered across the map. From quick pistols to heavy firepower, you'll need a proper arsenal to keep the neighborhood clean.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

The game features fast-paced, first-person shooter violence where players use an assortment of firearms to defend against hordes of zombies and dinosaurs. However, the game contains absolutely no references to, or depictions of, sexual content, alcohol, drugs, or illegal substances.
