What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Solidarity is an authentic, systems-heavy simulation that bridges two distinct genres: a hardcore, diegetic command-line terminal and an emergent territorial strategy map. Balancing complex ideological doctrines, counter-intelligence vetting, economic curves, and district-level territorial tactics requires deep, iterative feedback from players who love deep simulation, political strategy, and hacking/organizing tradecraft.

Early Access allows us to collaborate directly with our core community to test balance changes, refine CLI ergonomics, and expand narrative scenarios while ensuring the underlying tactical systems remain challenging, authentic, and rewarding.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan for Solidarity to remain in Early Access for approximately 8 to 12 months. This timeframe gives us the runway to deliver planned content updates, test community-requested features, and expand the territorial map scope without compromising quality or polish.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“While the Early Access version delivers a complete, cohesive multi-layer resistance campaign, we plan to significantly expand the macro-strategic scope for the full 1.0 release.

In the full version, we plan to:

Expand the Map Theater: Scale beyond the municipal Hagerstown and Washington County theater into a multi-tier regional map spanning the broader Mid-Atlantic territory (Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia).

Introduce Macro-Systemic Organs: Broaden the late-game beyond geographic census tracts to include functional state infrastructures (energy grids, logistics supply lines, telecommunications choke points, and economic state apparatuses).

Deeper Ideological Horizons & Co-optation: Add advanced ideological dilemmas, including dual-power institutional pressures, state co-optation offers, and bureaucratic calcification mechanics.

Expanded Tradecraft & Narrative Footprints: Introduce additional recruit profiles, sophisticated undercover agent behaviors, and dynamic police scanner/emergency state dispatches.

Scenario & Mod Support: Explore community-authored recruitment profiles, custom regional maps, and alternative resistance scenarios.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access launch version is fully playable, stable, and feature-complete across its core multi-layered loop:

Layer 1 (The Whistleblower): Active command-line infiltration, corporate database audits, onion proxy routing, and surveillance heat management.

Layer 2 (The Shadow Machine): Background daemon automation (cron::scrape, cron::audit), "Going Dark" prestige mechanics, and clandestine multi-buyer intel brokering.

Layer 3 (The Underground Network): Encrypted Signal communications, interactive two-stage digital footprint vetting (dm @handle 1|2), 14 authentic tradecraft and infiltrator profiles, cadre peer review, and 5 standing resistance departments (Logistics, Communications, Security, Finance, and Legal).

Layer 4 & The Turn: Strategic mobilization campaigns, dynamic ideological crystallization across a 2-axis political compass, and a dramatic transition where the terminal shell unfolds into a real-time tactical vector map of Hagerstown and Washington County.

The Continuity Archive: 17 persistent meta-perks across 4 branches, full local and Steam Cloud save persistence, 5 phosphor CRT visual themes, Calm Mode accessibility support, procedural synthesizer audio, and full Steam Deck controller/touch support.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to offer Solidarity at a lower entry price during Early Access as a thank you to early supporters and playtesters who invest their time in shaping development. As we ship major content expansions—such as regional map tiers and deeper systemic layers—we plan to modestly raise the price upon our full 1.0 release to reflect the expanded scope.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community engagement is central to our design philosophy:

Steam Community Hub: We actively monitor and participate in Steam discussion forums, reviewing player feedback on command syntax, balance curves, difficulty spikes, and strategy suggestions.
Official Discord: Our community Discord offers dedicated channels for reporting bugs, sharing tactical map builds, discussing real-world organizing tradecraft, and participating in experimental beta branches.
Transparent Devlogs & Patch Notes: We provide regular development dispatches explaining the rationale behind balance tweaks, showing upcoming roadmap progress, and highlighting community contributions.
Player-First Telemetry: We use anonymous gameplay telemetry with a fully transparent in-game opt-out toggle, allowing players to help us identify pacing bottlenecks and drop-off points while respecting digital privacy.”

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

AI was used to modify some of the steam store artwork, and fix some bugs in the code.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

One of the ideological paths is active + violent, which results in a uprising scenario where the user clicks on territories to conquer them, presumably through violence.
