What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“SALTO is built around movement that needs to feel perfect. Parkour games live or die by how responsive, fluid, and satisfying they are, and that’s something best refined with real players in the loop.

Early Access allows me to:

- Gather direct feedback on movement, level flow, and difficulty from players.

- Iterate quickly on mechanics, animations, and physics based on how people actually play.

- Expand the game organically with new levels, routes, and challenges guided by community input.

- Polish performance and stability across different hardware setups.

As a solo developer, Early Access lets SALTO grow in a focused, player driven way rather than locking everything behind a long, closed development cycle. The goal is to ship a game that feels tight, expressive, and endlessly replayable, and Early Access is the best way to get there.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“SALTO is planned to be in Early Access for around 6–12 months after initial release. This timeframe allows for multiple content and polish updates focused on movement refinement, new levels, and replayability features like improved time trials and route variety.

The exact length may change based on player feedback and how the game evolves during development, but the goal is to exit Early Access once the core movement feels fully dialed in and the game offers a solid amount of content with a high level of polish.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of SALTO is planned to expand on the Early Access foundation with more content, more depth, and more polish.

We plan to add:

- Additional environments, each with their own visual identity and movement challenges.

- More level variety in different game modes, along with increased route variety and alternate paths

- Improved movement mechanics and refinements that deepen skill expression without overcomplicating the controls.

- Expanded game mode types beyond standard time trials and challenges.

- Improved visuals, animations, audio, and overall presentation.

We also plan to continue optimizing performance, improving stability, and refining game feel based on community feedback gathered during Early Access.

Overall, the full version is intended to feel like a more complete and cohesive experience, building on what works in Early Access while preserving the fast, fluid, movement focused core of SALTO.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of SALTO is fully playable and already represents the core experience of the game. It includes the complete movement system, a set of handcrafted time trial levels, and a functional timing and leaderboard framework designed for replayability and speedrunning.

At this stage, players can:

- Run, vault, wallrun, climb, and chain movement fluidly across multiple levels.

- Complete time trials built around learning routes and improving completion times.

- Explore levels with multiple intended paths and movement strategies.

While the core mechanics are in place, the game is still evolving. Some areas are more polished than others, and additional content, refinement, and visual/audio improvements are planned over time. Early Access is focused on tightening movement feel, improving level flow, expanding content, and responding directly to player feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan for SALTO to be lower priced during Early Access to reflect its in progress state. As development continues and the game expands with more content, features, and polish, we may gradually raise the price closer to full release.

Early Access players are intended to receive the full game at no additional cost, and pricing changes would be tied to meaningful growth in scope and overall experience rather than minor updates.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is a core part of SALTO’s development. Because the game is heavily focused on movement and speedrunning, player input is essential to refining how it feels and plays.

We plan to involve the community by:

- Actively collecting feedback on movement, level design, difficulty, and overall game feel

- Iterating on mechanics and balance based on how players actually use and break the systems

- Using community discussions to help guide new level layouts, routes, and challenge ideas

- Paying close attention to speedrunning strategies and unintended shortcuts to improve or expand level design

Feedback will be gathered through Steam discussions, community servers, updates, and direct player interaction during Early Access. The goal is to shape SALTO alongside its players, letting the community help define what makes the movement, challenges, and replayability truly shine.”
