About This Game

A rhythm game AND a visual novel! Mystery! Rock and roll! A hand-drawn, fully animated, fully voiced cast!

What's not to love?

SuperMarket Music is a brand new game show broadcast straight from your dreams. There are cartoons. There are video games. There's a host who loves this show more than anyone alive, a magic frog mascot, and a studio audience that's suspiciously quiet. Everybody's a winner. Everybody gets a sticker. Nothing could possibly be wrong.

Special Feature is a journalist. She just woke up in a purple room with no idea how she got there. The room is talking to her. The show is starting on the monitor. And the co-host on screen looks exactly like her.

FREE DEMO OUT NOW — Episode 1, 7 levels, plus Arcade Mode.

RHYTHM GAME + VISUAL NOVEL. ONE GAME.

Half the time, you're talking your way through a very weird situation. Fully voiced conversations, real choices, and a cast that remembers what you said.

The other half, a VHS tape slides into the Supertainment Center, the UI locks into place, and the arrows come down. Pick your difficulty, hit the notes on the beat, chase your combo, and go for the grade.

Every song is its own hand-animated cartoon playing right behind the chart, and those cartoons aren't background noise. They're part of the story. Play well and you see more. Fall behind and the picture breaks up. Some of the best clues in the game are hiding in a music video you were too busy to watch.

ROCK AND ROLL

No licensed filler. SuperMarket Music is built on a full original album, written and recorded for the show by a real band. Drums, bass, guitars, the works. Every track is a level. Every level is a music video.

The songs go wherever the story goes, from a cheery game show theme you'll be humming for days to a purple-room hum you can't quite shake. The band wrote it. The band recorded it. It exists out here AND in there.

Turn it up. Headphones recommended.

HAND-DRAWN. FULLY ANIMATED. FULLY VOICED.

Every character drawn by hand. Every cartoon animated frame by frame. Every line performed by a real voice cast. VHS fuzz on top, because obviously.

Family Man — the host. Loves this show more than anyone alive. Big heart, loud suits, zero idea what's going on. It's his job to keep this family together.

Special Feature — a journalist who asks one question too many. Trapped, confused, and taking notes. She keeps going when everyone else stops.

Frub Bub — the mascot. A magic frog from the hit kids' show Bubbini. He does what he wants.

Plus a co-host who looks just like Special Feature, speaks perfect Japanese, and never, ever stops smiling. And a handful of voices on the other end of a walkie-talkie who really, really need you to pay attention.

MYSTERY

Every choice you make, somebody hears. The Everybody Knows Engine keeps track of who knows what, and who knows what decides which songs unlock and which storylines open up.

When it's loud, you'll see it. "FRUB BUB KNOWS!" flashes in the corner. Sometimes a name pops up you didn't expect. Sometimes nothing flashes at all. Those are the ones that come back.

Then there are the corrupted arrows. Every so often the chart glitches, and arrows come down that look... wrong. Don't hit those. Nobody on the show will tell you why. Nobody on the show seems to notice.

Why is there a purple room? Who's on the other end of the walkie-talkie? And why does this show feel like it's watching you back?

ARCADE MODE

Just here for the music? No judgment. Arcade Mode is its own full game. Pick a VHS off the shelf, pop it into the Supertainment Center (it's a TV on a wheelie cart, you know, from school), and play.

Every song, every chart, every difficulty. Beat your scores. Unlock the album. Never talk to a soul if you don't want to.

WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE?

Well…

There's the part where big tech is controlling the news. And trapping people inside a game show broadcast from their dreams.

Including us.

RUH ROH!

A news network and a tech company found a way to put your thoughts on TV. Special Feature was about to break the story. Now she's the star of it. Somebody has to figure out what's really on the air.

WHAT'S ON THE TAPE

  • A rhythm game and a visual novel, woven into one story
  • A full original album, and every song is its own hand-animated cartoon
  • A hand-drawn, fully animated, fully voice-acted cast
  • The Everybody Knows Engine: choices that stick, because somebody always knows
  • Corrupted arrows. Don't hit those.
  • Combos, grades and multiple difficulties on every chart
  • Arcade Mode: pick a tape, skip the story, chase high scores and unlock the album
  • Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, full controller support

How long does the show run? Great question. Stay tuned.

Let everyone know.
