What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The Bloom Initiative started as a simple top-down shooter and has organically evolved into a dynamic split-screen co-op experience with diverse alien adversaries and procedurally generated maps. As a solo developer, I want to continue shaping the game with direct player feedback, ensuring that new mechanics, balance adjustments, and content updates align with what players truly enjoy. Early Access provides the perfect opportunity to refine and expand the game, transforming it from good to great through community-driven development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We estimate the game will remain in Early Access for around 4-6 months, but this may vary depending on community feedback and the scope of new features we plan to implement.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable, featuring over 20 levels designed for both single-player and split-screen co-op. Players can battle against 14 different alien types across multiple biomes, with full keyboard and gamepad support. The core mechanics, including shooting, movement, and enemy AI, are polished, and the game offers a solid and engaging experience. While there’s plenty of content to enjoy, I plan to expand and refine the game further based on player feedback”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“While the current version provides a complete and enjoyable experience, I aim to expand the game with additional content and features. Planned improvements include a level editor for user-generated content, new biomes for more environmental variety, additional levels, tougher bosses, and enhanced visual effects. Beyond new content, I also want to fine-tune gameplay balance, introduce quality-of-life improvements, and refine mechanics based on community input to make The Bloom Initiative the best experience possible.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price as we add new content and features, with a final price increase when the full version is released”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is essential to shaping The Bloom Initiative. I actively encourage players to share their ideas on gameplay improvements, balance tweaks, and new features. One key area where player input will be especially valuable is the planned level editor, which will allow users to create their own missions, complete with dialogue. I look forward to working with the community to refine this feature and enhance the overall game experience through discussions, playtesting, and iterative updates.”
