The Serpent and the Crow is a single-player, bullet-heaven, action rogue-lite, survivor-like with strong emphasis on RPG character depth and strategic build development. Face-off against droves of enemies as you explore unique themed biomes to unlock keys and take control of ancient thrones hidden in a forgotten tavern.

Discover equipment blueprints that can be permanently crafted and upgraded at the Blacksmith. Most equipment slots will change the appearance of your character to allow for greater visual personalization. In addition, equipment can have empty rune slots (more as you upgrade). These slots can be used to temporarily augment the stats on your gear to help refine the build for that run.

Each run will start by choosing a character Origin. This Origin will decide the starting weapon, skill, and stats of your character for the run. After completing two stages in the run you will select an Ascension for the remainder of the run. This Ascension will increase and specialize your stats. Additionally, a powerful Ascension Aura will be created around your character. Origins and Ascensions can be permanently upgraded through the Codex at your hub.

As you gain experience and level up during a run you will earn points to choose from a random selection of new character Traits, Skills, and Skill Modifications and enhance your strength. The myriad of possible combinations of these enhancements allow each run to feel fresh.
