What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows me to include the players directly in the development process. Since I’m a solo developer, having that open line of communication with the community is especially valuable, it helps me stay grounded, prioritize better, and react quickly to feedback.
By gathering impressions and suggestions from players during active play, I can identify what's working well and what needs adjustment. It's not just about fixing bugs, but also about refining balance, expanding systems, and sometimes even rethinking features based on how the community responds.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current plan is for the game to remain in Early Access for about six months. This timeframe should be enough to incorporate player feedback, expand the game's features, and fine-tune the overall experience. However, this may shift slightly depending on how development progresses.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“At the start of Early Access, the military aspect of the game will be functional but limited in scope. For the full release, I plan to significantly expand this part of the game with additional mechanics, depth, and strategic options. The full version is also planned to include more maps for players to explore and a modding support system, allowing the community to create and share custom content.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version will launch with a fully playable core experience. Most of the buildings will already be available, and the gameplay loop will be complete. Players will be able to choose between a fully voice-acted campaign, a classic sandbox mode, and a creative mode that offers unrestricted building. While not everything will be final, the game will already provide many hours of content and a solid foundation to build upon.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I haven't made a final decision yet, but the current thinking is that the price will likely remain the same after Early Access. If that changes due to the scope of updates or added content, I’ll make sure to communicate it clearly in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will be involved primarily through the Steam Discussions page and regular announcements. I’ll be actively reading feedback, responding to suggestions, and updating players on development progress. I'm committed to building a transparent and collaborative relationship with the players throughout Early Access and beyond.”

About This Game

Pompeii: The Legacy is a unique city-building game set in the Roman Empire, focusing on the legendary city of Pompeii. The game begins 20 years after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, where you are tasked with rebuilding the city from the ashes.

As the head of a Roman family, you will oversee the reconstruction of Pompeii over several generations, making critical decisions that shape the city's future. Your city is a dynamic, living system. Construct buildings, manage resources, and ensure your citizens have everything they need to thrive. Every structure, road, and water supply plays a crucial role in keeping the city alive and prosperous.

The gameplay is deeply rooted in historical events, offering a campaign that spans over 200 years. You will navigate the complex social hierarchy of the Roman Empire, interacting with emperors like Trajan, Hadrian, and Marcus Aurelius. Complete their tasks to earn rewards and benefits for yourself, your family and your city.

Leverage the trade routes of the Roman Empire to exchange goods and wealth. Establish trade agreements and monitor the market to ensure your city's prosperity. Always be mindful of the competition, as the market can be volatile.

The game incorporates active and passive bonuses through Family Bonuses, Research and Development, and Imperial Privileges. There are two main research branches: Technology and Philosophy. The Technology branch unlocks building upgrades and passive bonuses that enhance specific structures or transport. The Philosophy branch offers research that improves city management, governance, and addresses social issues like religion and education, providing new strategies for you.

Experience the unpredictability of life in the Roman Empire through a variety of events. Catastrophes such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, fires, locust swarms, and plagues can strike at any moment, affecting your city or the empire as a whole. These events will test your leadership, requiring quick thinking and strategic decisions to protect your city and ensure its survival.
