What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

TL;DR: Eden Rising is an open world co-op action game that blends tower defense and survival genres to create a unique multiplayer experience. Early Access will let us adjust to how you and your friends play together. We will be adding lots more content, biomes and new features, including an endless/challenge mode. We’ll work closely with the community on our Discord channel to make the game even better!

With co-op at the core of Eden Rising, community feedback is essential for developing and updating the game. We're far enough along that players can get an idea of where we're going, but still early enough that they can have a say in the future. Every group of friends will have their own mix of playstyles and roles, and Early Access gives us the chance to adjust based on the needs of those groups when adding features and content.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We have a lot more in store for Eden Rising, and we plan to continue to grow and update the game consistently over the coming months, aiming for release at the end of 2018.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Over time the world of Eden Rising will grow larger. We plan to add a breadth of new content to continue the story, which will double the existing content. We’ll also have many more monster varieties, more challenges, and plenty of awesome craftable weapons, armor, and traps.

In addition to content, we also plan to add big features such as Character Customization, Resource Cultivation, an Expanded Item Upgrade system, and an endless/challenge siege mode. Our goal parallel to this is to increase tribe size to a total of 16.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is stable and can support up to 8 players on a server. There are 30+ hours of content available to play right now, as well as the initial story elements. We have 4 diverse biomes and Crucibles to explore and defend, lots of resources to collect, and a variety of monsters to encounter and defeat. The game has several weapon families, each with their own animation move-sets and playstyle.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the game's price at for Early Access will be lower. The price will be revised as the game evolves and content is added.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We believe that transparency in the development process and open communication are crucial. We will have a public Discord channel to report issues and post feedback. We will also post continual updates and dev diaries for the Community throughout the course of the game's development.

Controller Support & Story Finale Update v0.4.2 is LIVE!

Hi Wardens,

The latest update, Eden Rising Controller Support & Story Finale Update v.0.4.2 is LIVE!

That’s right, the long-awaited controller support is finally in a playable state! We’ll continue to tweak the controls, but we wanted you to have access to it as as soon as possible. We currently support the XBox One and PS4 controllers! Please try it out and let us know what you think.

We’ve also added a new area with a finale to the story, complete with 2 new monsters! Finish the final siege in the Valley to gain access to it.

We hope you enjoy this update! As always, thanks for playing!

  • We've added Controller Support to the game! This is a first pass, and we are supporting XBox One and PS4 controllers specifically in this patch.
  • For now, you cannot rebind controller mappings.

  • Added the first pass of the Finale to the game!
  • The finale is still being tweaked internally, but we wanted you to have (early) access to it. :)
  • Complete the last siege in the Valley to be directed to the final zone.

  • Added the Thulians to the game. These fierce creatures are native to Eden and extremely territorial. Those found in the wild have equipped themselves against hostile invaders both past and present.
  • Added the boss to the finale (no spoilers ;) )!

  • Continued tweaking ranged weapons and adding VFX.

  • Fixed an issue where controls were stuck if 2 " 3 panels" are showed up at the same time.
  • Fixed an issue where auto-advance didn't work on achievements that appear after the beginning set if the player had completed those achievements before.
  • Fixed an issue where when one player received Sulfur Corrosion or Radiation in multiplayer, other players in the world could get it, too.
  • Fixed an issue where if you're already in your own World and then use Steam's "Join Game" feature to Join a Friend, the game froze.
  • Fixed an issue where while at the "Play Sieges" Crucible Sieges Menu, attempting to access another Menu caused the MC's controls to lock up.
  • Fixed an issue where the gear icon was not updating on the character screen when changing gear.
  • Fixed an issue where the Siege Menu didn't display the nanochips rewarded in the other difficulties if the links had already been restored.
  • Fixed the starting mana on turrets.
  • Fixed an issue where upon placing a Defense Item, there was a ~5s delay before it began firing.
  • Fixed an issue where some monsters did not have collision with the player.
  • Fixed an issue where upon joining a Host's Multiplayer Game at the "Crucible Sieges" Tutorial step, players were still required to complete the "Placing Turrets" Tutorial step.
  • Fixed an issue where the hit impact vfx and sounds always played late.
  • Fixed an issue where upon getting Banned, trying to join again caused the banned player's Main Menu to become blank.
  • Fixed an issue where the result screen after winning an outpost was not accurate.
  • Fixed an issue where some Trees and Gear in the Forge Equipment didn't properly show their Upgrade "+" (Plus).
  • Fixed an issue where the placement model for the ballista was not transparent.
  • Fixed an issue where the advanced ballistas had the wrong blueprints.
  • Fixed an issue where it says "Continue" in the Main Menu, even after deleting all 3 Profiles.
  • Fixed an issue where, in the Valley Cave's Outpost Base, Lane A wasn't showing.
  • Fixed various stuck bugs.

Better Together Update v0.4.1 is LIVE!

Hey Wardens,

The Eden Rising Better Together Update v.0.4.1 is LIVE!

This update focuses on multiplayer features, as well as some bug fixes. Overall, we think this update makes playing Eden Rising even better for playing with friends and other Wardens!

  • New Main Menu Flow. To support pick-up players and reflect the latest changes to character data, we’ve updated the Main Menu flow. Choose which world and character to play with, or if you’re joining another player, choose your character. See below for information about old multiplayer saves!
  • Added a World List, both in-game and on the main menu. This list shows you other players’ worlds and activities. Choose the one you want to join for pick-up play! The session key still exists for those who want to keep their world closed, but invite their friends to play.
  • Your world can be either Closed (only allows friends and session key people to join) or Open (allowing anyone to join). We’ve also added a few server protections (see rest of patch notes).
  • Host activity will also display in the World List, either “Hunting” or “Sieging.”
  • Multiplayer Rewards -- we’ve made changes to several features to make multiplayer rewarding, including: resource deposit, Nanochips as grindable, personal currency, and earning Monster Cores. See below for the breakdown!
  • What about my multiplayer saves? They aren’t gone! But you are now restricted to 3 world/character saves. If you want those to be from your multiplayer saves, we’ve written up how to move those at the bottom of this post. Of course, we’re on Discord or the Steam forums if you need help!

  • As promised, you can now deposit resources and materials to invest in blueprints. Since you can’t take resources with you from other servers, be sure to deposit them into your blueprints before leaving a multiplayer world!
  • When leaving a multiplayer world, players will be warned to invest their resources before disconnecting.

  • Nanochips are now a personal currency! This change required us to remove Nanochips from the server, therefore we are awarding 1000 Nanochips to the world host on their first login.
  • Earn Nanochips by completing Sieges, even when visiting other worlds! Nanochips are now grindable from Sieges. Earn them and bring them back to your world to progress your game. Remember, the higher the difficulty, the better the reward!
  • Nanchips can now be deposited into tech, just like investing in gear.

  • Hosts now have access to protections for their world’s Global Storage and Crucible Tech/Upgrades.
  • Global Storage protections affect other players’ access to withdrawing or crafting from Global Storage.
  • Crucible Tech/Upgrades protections affect other players’ access to purchasing or unlocking.
  • Protection options are: Friends and Promoted Only (default), Host Only, Promoted Only, and Everyone. Be sure to choose the option you’re most comfortable with!

  • Earn new gear by earning Mastery XP in the Bestiary! Monster Cores can now be equipped to improve your character’s stats.
  • Three Monster Core slots have been added to the character screen. Equip one core of each type: red, blue, and green.
  • Get bonus Mastery XP when playing multiplayer!

  • Continued tweaking ranged weapons and adding VFX.

  • Fixed an issue where, in the siege menu, there were no differences in the number of monsters between the Group and Tribe difficulty.
  • Fixed an issue where upon beating an Outpost Siege, it wouldn’t show its subsequent timer anymore.
  • Fixed various stuck bugs.

Move Old Multiplayer Save to a Profile Save

  1. Go to the Windows file explorer (https://imgur.com/WXy4t9j.jpg)
  2. In ServerSavesV2->Multiplayer, locate your save folder. These files will be in one of these folders, depending on your computer (https://i.imgur.com/hJ6hSEQ.jpg):
    • AppData/Local/Nvizzio/EdenRising
    • AppData/LocalLow/Nvizzio/EdenRising
    • AppData/Roaming/Nvizzio/EdenRising
  3. Local may be hidden. If it’s not appearing, click “View” at the top left. In the show/hide section, check the box for “Hidden Items”
  4. Move the save folder you want to ServerSavesV2->Solo
  5. Rename the save folder to Save0, Save1, or Save2 (replacing the existing one if it exists) to use it as the World for your first, second, or third profile respectively

“I’m quite impressed with Eden Rising as an Early Access title. Too often these games just feel half-baked when they hit steam. Instead, Nvizzio’s open world tower defense is a delight, polished, and feels really engaging.”

“It's got a gorgeous science-fantasy art style, is being developed by industry vets who've worked on games like The Secret World and Age of Conan, and has some intriguing ideas about how to revive a genre that's long been cold.”

“The team at Nvizzio Creations is hoping to have Eden Rising out of early access by the end of 2018. If it uses that time well, putting polish on this game and smoothing out all its edges, this really will be my favorite game all year.”
