What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We believe in creating the best possible experience by involving our community throughout development. Early Access allows us to gather valuable player feedback to refine gameplay, balance mechanics, and add exciting new features. Your input will shape the game, helping us build something truly memorable and fun for everyone.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will remain in Early Access until we’re confident it has reached the level of quality and polish we’re striving for. The first Early Access release build is planned for the end of Q2 2025 or the beginning of Q3 2025, with a full release currently targeted for Q4 2026. Our focus is on delivering a fully enjoyable and complete experience based on community feedback, and we’ll keep players updated as development progresses.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the full version, we aim to include significantly more content, such as expanded levels, additional enemies, enhanced visuals, and refined gameplay mechanics. While Early Access focuses on the core gameplay experience, the full version is intended to offer other playable races beyond humans, a wider variety of spells, additional traps, intricate puzzles, and a two-player couch co-op mode for shared adventures.

Early Access may have limited optimization and will feature only a few initial game goals. While Early Access uses royalty-free music tracks, the full version is expected to include an expanded original score. We also plan to introduce an achievement system in the full release to provide additional challenges and enhance replayability.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Scaledeep includes the core gameplay mechanics, providing a solid foundation for the full game experience. Here’s what you can expect in the current version:

  • Dungeon Exploration: Fully functional procedurally generated dungeons with puzzles and multiple enemy types. Dungeons can be traversed in both directions.
  • Dungeon Generation: All walls are procedurally generated, providing visual variety. Environmental elements like water, lava, and abysses have also been added.
  • Smart Dungeon Layout: While dungeon levels are generated randomly, the process is designed to be meaningful. Generation ensures multiple routes to the downstairs, each offering a unique experience. One route might be packed with enemies, while another could feature logical puzzles to solve.
  • Combat System: A turn-based battle system featuring melee and ranged combat, as well as knockdown attacks.
  • Playable Classes: Currently, the Human race is playable, with access to all four classes—Fighter, Mage, Rogue, and Cleric. Each class can learn and use spells and abilities without restrictions, limited only by initial stats and maximum caps.
  • Leveling System: Players can gain levels by earning experience points from defeating enemies. With each level-up, players earn additional points to distribute among their stats, allowing for character customization and growth.
  • Enemies: 27 enemy types have been implemented, each with unique behaviors and attack patterns.
  • Loot and Items: Procedurally generated items, including weapons, armor, and spellbooks, are scattered throughout the dungeons.
  • Destructible Environment: Barrels and crates can be destroyed for additional loot.
  • Visuals and Audio: Polished visuals, particle effects, animations, and sound effects enhance a variety of game interactions.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be priced slightly higher after Early Access. We want to reward early supporters with a lower price while we continue to develop and expand the game. As we add more content and features, the final version will reflect its full value.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We value player feedback and believe it’s essential to shaping the game. The community can share suggestions, report bugs, and discuss ideas through our Steam Community Hub and official Discord server. We’ll regularly post updates, hold discussions, and respond to feedback to ensure the game evolves in a direction players love.”

About This Game

Take on adventure in turn-based dungeon crawler featuring 20 different storylines in procedurally generated environments, over 200 unique monsters, and dynamic class customization. Choose from three classes—Fighter, Mage or Rogue — but customize your character on the fly as every class can learn any spell or skill. Explore dangerous dungeons filled with traps, logical puzzles, and powerful artifacts while facing unpredictable game goals. Play solo or team up in local couch co-op to tackle two-player puzzles and battle hordes of enemies.

STORYLINES

In Scaledeep, the core engine powering every descent into its ever‑shifting depths is our Storylines—self‑contained narrative arcs that give each run a clear purpose. You won’t just wander an endless labyrinth or chase some fix win condition; instead, each playthrough begins with a freshly chosen tale that unfolds against randomly generated corridors, traps, and lairs. Whether you’re delving into cursed catacombs to find the lost expedition or hunting down a legendary relic to save a besieged village (or for your own gain), every Storyline brings its own cast of characters, objectives, and surprising twists—so no two dungeon runs ever feel alike.

At the start of every run, you’re presented with the Storyline Selector, a magical book that picks one of twenty stories to set your goal. A short description appears—presenting you with your current goal. Once your story is chosen, the dungeon shifts to match: you’ll meet new encounters, find specific treasures, and trigger special events tied to that tale.

HOW TO LIVE

Pick your Hero archetype:

  • Warrior: when you just want to smash things with raw muscle

  • Mage: if you’d rather blast foes with powerful spells.

  • Rogue: for players who love sneaking, backstabs, and quick getaways.

Learn your craft

  • Blacksmith: Repair, mend, and reinforce your battered weapons and armor.

  • Arcane Reforger: Salvage enchantments from gear and weave those magics into your favorite weapon or armor.

  • Recharger: Recharge your weapons of missing charges.

  • Disenchanter: Strip enchantments from your loot into fine arcane powder to supercharge your own spells.

  • Alchemist: Mix up explosive potions, bombs, and potent elixirs

  • Trapmaker: Tear down spare loot for raw materials, then rig up snares and explosive devices.

Explore and Scavenge

  • Secret: Some walls hide locked, illusionary, or even slide-away doors.

  • Loot Everything: Carry it now, tear it apart later if it isn’t useful.

  • Environmental Hazards: Lure enemies over spike pits, into acid pools, push them in lava or abyss.

Team Up

  • Couch Co-Op with a friend. Grab controllers, and solve current storyline side by side.

HOW TO DIE

Who said death ends the story? In our game it’s merely the punchline of your wildest session. A tribute to the "famous last words":

  • Drown in the murky depths of a cave lake - "This scroll of random teleport seems foolproof."

  • Open Things You Shouldn’t - “Locks are just suggestions, anyway.”

  • Break Your Neck falling through a hidden trapdoor, or by jumping into the abyss - "Watch me dive baby!"

  • Die of Plague after poking those peaceful zombies -  “They look… a bit sniffly, but how bad can it be?”

  • Get Possessed by the Lich Lord - "Hmmm...is this phylactery worth any gold?"

  • Read a Very Very Cursed Book“Knowledge is power!"

  • Get Bashed to Death by an very large cave troll - “He seems friendly enough - wanna hug buddy?”

  • Burn to Death - "A nice place for camp, near this patch of dry grass."

…and many more yet to be discovered.

Death is inevitable, but it doesn’t have to be boring. Can you find them all?
